Potassium Nutrition Of Lupins On The Sandplain Soils Of Western Australia., N. K. Edwards

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Aim: Develop recommendations for optimal potassium fertilizer application strategies for lupin production. Further develop soil and tissue test calibrations for lupin grain production.

Trial 89EC32

Potassium nutrition of lupins on sandplain soils.

Location: East Chapman Research Station.

Fertilizer: At sowing: 50 kg/ha DAP, 50 kg/ha Urea topdressed. 100 kg/ha Urea topdressed 10/7.

Trial 89GE90

Potassium nutrition of lupins on sandplain soils.

Location: Allanooka

Fertilizer: At sowing: 120 kg/ha Agras No. 1. 100 kg/ha Urea topdressed 10/7.

Trial 89MO51

Potassium nutrition of lupins on sandplain soils.

Location: Lancelin.

Fertilizer: At sowing: 110 kg/ha Agras No. 1. 60 kg/ha Urea topdressed 10/7. …

National Subterranean Clover Improvement Programme., P. G. H. Nichols Jan 1990

National Subterranean Clover Improvement Programme., P. G. H. Nichols

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

The National Subterranean Clover Improvement Programme (NSCIP) aims to develop, by breeding and selection, better adapted and more productive low—oestrogen cultivars of subterranean clover for a range of environments in southern Australia. The programme is a collaborative one with the University of Western Australia and consists of two phases: (i) early generation selection, which involves selecting varieties satisfying primary selection criteria; and (ii) field evaluation of advanced lines, which is conducted by the Departments of Agriculture in each State and co—ordinated by the Plant Breeder.

The first phase is conducted at the University Field Station (UFS) and is continued until …

Pursuit For Weed Control In Peas., S. Curtin Jan 1990

Pursuit For Weed Control In Peas., S. Curtin

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

All trials were located in Merredin.

Trial 90ME86

This trial was one of the best demonstrations of pursuits effectiveness against mustard in particular. Other weeds were rough poppy and ryegrass and a small amount of cereal and doublegee.

250 ml applied immediate before seeding (IBS) was by far the best treatment with 100% control of mustard and poppy and good ryegrass control. This is in contract to 375 ml most emergent which had good control of mustard (77%) and suppression of ryegrass. There was no yield advantage from the post emergent treatment but there was a 55% yield increase from …

Deep Banding Phosphate For Lupins. 1990 Results., R. J. Jarvis Jan 1990

Deep Banding Phosphate For Lupins. 1990 Results., R. J. Jarvis

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trials 90SC1, 90SC21, 90SC12, 88SC28, 90WH73

There is no doubt that deep banding is the only effective way to provide an efficient supply of phosphorus for lupins in the eastern wheatbelt.

Location: Carrabin, Wongan Hills.

Variety * time of sowing (TOS)

Locations: Wagin, Tarin Rock, Newdegate Research Station and Lake Varley.

Determine the optimum sowing date for maximum yield for a range of released and unreleased wheat cultivars.

Trials: 90KA79, 90LG50, 90LG51, 90N62

Nitrogen application.

Locations: Wagin, Tarin Rock, Newdegate Station and Lake Varley.

Determine the response of released and unreleased wheat cultivars to the application of nitrogen.

Trials: …

Development Of Herbicide Tolerant Lupin Varieties., J. Cooper Jan 1990

Development Of Herbicide Tolerant Lupin Varieties., J. Cooper

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 90GL26

Effect of growth stage at application of response to atrazine.

To determine the optimum stage for application of atrazine to show the most consistent and maximum differences between varieties of lupins in glasshouse tolerance trials.

Trial 90GL28

Response to lupin varieties to metribuzin applied post emergence.

This is an initial quick screening to determine if the same pattern of responses occurs when metribuzin is applied as when simazine/atrazine is used. Field rates were used assuming that there are 1,250,000 pots/ha. The recommended rate applied to peas is 300g/ha so this was used as an estimate of the amount …

Investigating Poor Pasture Productivity., J. W. Bowden, R. J. Lunt, C. Broun Jan 1990

Investigating Poor Pasture Productivity., J. W. Bowden, R. J. Lunt, C. Broun

Experimental Summaries - Plant Research

Trial 90N06

Location: West Dale

To determine the reason for poor pasture productivity in medium rainfall zone. Specifically why the pastures are dominated by the poorly productive species Trifolium suffocatum and why there was a large response to phosphorous fertilizer at 50 ppm P in the soil.
