Chromosome Counts Of Some Veronica L. (Scrophulariaceae) Species From Iran, Shahryar Saeidi Mehrvarz, Ardashir Kharabian

The chromosome numbers of 10 Veronica L. species belonging to sect. Alsinebe (Griseb.) Lehm. and sect. Beccabunga Griseb. from northern Iran are given. The chromosome numbers for 3 of the 10 studied taxa, i.e. V. siaretensis E. Lehm., V. ceratocarpa C.A.Mey. (2n = 14) and V. hederifolia L. (2n = 36) are presented for the first time. Our results are compared with previous records.

Evaluation Of Diagnostic Reproductive And Vegetative Characters Among Tetraploid Triticum L. Species (Poaceae; Triticeae) In Iran, Navaz Kharazian, Mohammad Reza Rahiminejad

This study concerns the evaluation of 19 vegetative and reproductive characters (7 qualitative and 12 quantitative) among 45 accessions belonging to wild and cultivated tetraploid Triticum L. species: T. turgidum L., T. durum Desf., T. dicoccum (Schrank) Schrebler and T. dicoccoides (Koern. ex Aschers. et Graebn.) Aaronsohn, occurring in Iran. The results of this study show that T. turgidum is a distinct species from T. durum, and T. dicoccum showed high similarity to T. dicoccoides. The strong relationship between the latter pair of species may result from a high degree of gene flow between them. The diagnostic characters between T. …

Astragalus crassispinus Bunge and Astragalus nigrolineatus Sirj. & Rech.f. are new records from Iran. They belong to the sections Anthylloidei DC. and Dissitiflori DC. These species were endemic to Afghanistan.
