This study investigates how DA (dopamine) modulates GLU (glutamate) signaling at the interneuron level of the C. elegans avoidance circuit in response to the noxious chemical 1-octanol. Many neural processes involved in addiction, exhibit cellular mechanisms using the neurotransmitters dopamine and glutamate along with their intracellular and genomic targets.
