This a readable article about the need for legal education reform in Jordan. It grew out of the experiences, discussions, and shared interests of the co-authors – a Jordanian female law professor and an American male law professor who have worked with the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) and Jordanian law faculties to develop strategies for strengthening legal education in Jordan. The article is unusual in that it is presented as a dialogue in order to identify and reflect the authors’ different professional and cultural perspectives. So, can the Arbitrator be a woman? Omar, the third Khalipha in Islam after Prophet Muhammad, actually appointed a female judge. Today, across the various Muslim countries, there are female judges in almost every Muslim country except in Saudi Arabia. There are about 70 female Iraqi judges, 10 female judges in the UAE, 20 in Egypt female judges and Arbitrators, Nigeria recently appointed the first female Chief Justice in Africa as well as it has one of the largest National Associations of Women Judges; with more in other Muslim Countries including Indonesia and Malaysia.

Openness has become a common concept in a growing number of scientific and academic fields. Expressions such as Open Access (OA) or Open Content (OC) are often employed for publications of papers and research results, or are contained as conditions in tenders issued by a number of funding agencies. The authors delineate the general policy and guidelines for developing foreign and transnational law collections in U.S. law libraries, and they analyze factors that shape East Asian collections, such as law libraries’ preservation and digitization efforts and their related cost-efficiency, and the availability and quality of English translations. The authors then discuss the main sources for Korean, Japanese, and Chinese law.
