This paperback details the murder of Louise Owen Beattie, who was killed by her husband Henry Clay Beattie. They were married in 1910 and had an infant son in 1911. Around the time of the birth of their son, Henry Beattie reconnected with a former girlfriend. He procured a shotgun, and then on July 18, 1911, invited Louise on a drive. When they returned several hours later, Louise was dead. Beattie claimed that they were attacked by a highwayman, but his story did not stand up to police investigation. This is a modern account of the trial of Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was a midwife and healer, as well as a spiritual advisor in the Boston colony. She became embroiled in the Antinomian controversy, a religious schism that threatened to tear the colony apart. Hutchinson was arrested and charged with "transducing the ministers" and heresy. She was convicted and her family was banished from the colony in 1638. She and six members of her family were killed during Kieft's War several years later.
