California Water: Looking To The Future, Department Of Water Resources
California Water: Looking To The Future, Department Of Water Resources
California Agencies
In general, California has abundant water resources, but they do not occur where people live and work, nor does precipitation occur when water is needed. To deal with these basic disparities, water agencies have built the most extensive "plumbing system" in the world. Local, regional, state, and federal agencies have constructed reservoirs and aqueducts throughout the State.
None of the water projects was constructed easily or without controversy. From one perspective, the history of California is the history of arguing about water. More and more, however, the debates are changing from competition among water users to broader discussions of public …

Legal Reasoning And The Jurisprudence Of Vertical Restraints: The Limitations Of Neoclassical Economic Analysis In The Resolution Of Antitrust Disputes, John J. Flynn, James F. Ponsoldt
Legal Reasoning And The Jurisprudence Of Vertical Restraints: The Limitations Of Neoclassical Economic Analysis In The Resolution Of Antitrust Disputes, John J. Flynn, James F. Ponsoldt
Scholarly Works
Cognizant of historical shifts in the methodology and standards applied in antitrust analysis, particularly in the analysis of vertical restraints, this Article first considers the underlying jurisprudential nature of legal reasoning as background for determining what the law of vertical restraints ought to be. The Article then explores the implications of substitution "economic analysis"--in the narrow sense of the economic analysis advocated by the Chicago School of "law and economics"--for legal reasoning in disputes arising under the antitrust laws. A more accurate, multivalued background for antitrust policy is explored. This Article finally proposes a method for analysis of vertical restraints …
At-Will Employment And The Handsome American: A Case Study In Law And Social Psychology, Theodore J. St. Antoine
At-Will Employment And The Handsome American: A Case Study In Law And Social Psychology, Theodore J. St. Antoine
Other Publications
The past decade has seen a genuine revolution in employment law, as some forty American jurisdictions, in square holdings or strong dictum and on one or more diverse theories, have modified the conventional doctrine whereby employers "may dismiss their employees at will...for good cause, for no cause or even for cause morally wrong." In this paper I shall briefly review the theories most frequently invoked by the courts in dealing with wrongful dismissal and indicate their deficiencies as a permanent solution for the problem. Next, I shall summarize the major arguments for and against the doctrine of employment at will. …

Raab House, Susie Van Kirk
Raab House, Susie Van Kirk
Susie Van Kirk Papers
The architectural integrity of the house continues to be impaired by past and on-going alterations. Window and door changes along with major interior reconstruction have altered the house considerably from its original appearance. It is the addition on the southwest corner, however, that is so intrusive as to permanently compromise the house's historic architecture. For this reason, I am recommending denial of the application for historic designation.
