On Domesticating Giants: Further Reflections On The Legal Approach To Transnational Enterprise, A. A. Fatouros

Articles by Maurer Faculty

This article continues a line of inquiry begun long ago at the University of Western Ontario, at a time when transnational enterprise was dealt with under the heading of "direct private foreign investment." It picks up and develops certain points made in some relatively recent articles of mine, such as, The Computer and the Mudhut: Notes on Multinational Enterprise in Developing Countries (1971), 10 Columbia J. Transn'l. L. 325; Multinational Enterprise and Extraterritoriality (1972), 1 J. Contemporary Business (No. 4); and especially, Problemes et ethodes d'une reglementation des enterprises multinationales (1974), 101 J. Droit Int'l (Clunet) 495.

Transmission Planning Summary : Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project Transmission Studies, United States Department Of Interior

Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project

This report summarizes the results of system planning, environmental, and location studies for transmission facilities associated with the proposed Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project in northern Maine. The studies recommend the construction of two 345-kV transmission circuits from a substation near the project along a route through western Maine into northern New Hampshire and Vermont. The plan will integrate the power produced by the project into the New England Power Pool Transmission System. Five alternate integration plans were identified and studied. Of the five plans, the recommended plan, which calls for the lines to be suspended from a single row of …

A Study Of The Dickey-Lincoln Hydroelectric Project And Its Impact On The Resources Of The Upper Saint John River Valley, Rosemary M. Manning, Sierra Club, New England Chapter

Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project

This report was under-taken primarily to evaluate the impact that the construction of the Dickey-Lincoln project would have upon the resources of the Upper St. John River, and to examine the assertion that the Dickey-Lincoln project constitutes a wise use of the public's environmental and economic resources. Since the case that has been made for the construction of the Dickey-Lincoln project rest primarily on the justification of the project in economic terms, this aspect of the project proposal will be intensively explored.

Dickey-Lincoln School Lakes Project

The intention of this report is to present a still picture of the selected area as of the summer of 1966. The emphasis is on empirical relationships. The data contained herein will provide a base for subsequent analysis. Thus little attempt is made to cast the findings of the study in a theoretical framework. Later publications will utilize relevant theory and research to analyze the social and economic changes in an area related to the building of the Dickey and Lincoln School Dams. Commercial Farm Law: The Uniform Commercial Code, Thomas B. Allington, Clayton K. Yeutter Jan 1966

Commercial Farm Law: The Uniform Commercial Code, Thomas B. Allington, Clayton K. Yeutter

Department of Agricultural Economics: Faculty Publications

Commercial law includes such topics as sales contracts, notes, checks, shipping and storage documents, and a variety of financing instruments. Over the years much of the law on these topics has become complex, confusing, and often obsolete. The Uniform Commercial Code, or U.C.C., is designed, first, to bring about uniformity in state laws governing commerce, and second, to clarify, simplify, and modernize these laws. The Code's success in this respect is shown by the fact that it has now been adopted by almost all states. It became effective in Nebraska on September 2, 1965. Drafting of the U.C.C. dates back …

An Economic Analysis Of Contributions Under The Income Tax Laws, Floyd E. Gillis, Vernon L. Smith

Economics Faculty Articles and Research

In this note classical tools are used to examine the treatment of "gifts in kind" under the federal income-tax laws as they were but a few years ago, as they are today, and as they should be, given the objective that the law appears to be trying to achieve. It will be demonstrated that, under certain conditions, firms today can maximize profit after taxes by producing some output to be given to acceptable charities.
