Law And Economic Change During The Short Twentieth Century, John Henry Schlegel
Law And Economic Change During The Short Twentieth Century, John Henry Schlegel
Contributions to Books
Published as Chapter 16 in Cambridge History of Law in America, Volume 3: The Twentieth Century and After (1920–), Michael Grossberg & Christopher Tomlins, eds.
The brief recounting of the American economy in the twenties and thirties raises obvious questions about law and economic change. Economic change is the shift from one enacted, in both senses, understanding of economic life to another, in the case of the short twentieth century, from an associationalist economy to an impatient economy. This chapter explicates this economic change, and interrogates it in order to understand the role of law in its occurrence. Despite the …

The Legal Profession: From The Revolution To The Civil War, Alfred S. Konefsky
Contributions to Books
Published as Chapter 3 in The Cambridge History of Law in America, Volume II, The Long Nineteenth Century (1789–1920), Michael Grossberg & Christopher Tomlins, eds.
The American legal profession matured and came to prominence during the century prior to the Civil War. Before the Revolution, across some 150 years, lawyers in different colonies underwent different experiences at different times. By the beginning of the eighteenth century, more lawyers were entering professional life. After the revolution and the defection by the Tory lawyers, the remaining quickly burnished their images in the glow of republican ideals while grasping new market opportunities. For …

Społeczna Odpowiedzialność Biznesu. Wymiar Konstytucyjny I Międzynarodowy, Maciej Bernatt
Społeczna Odpowiedzialność Biznesu. Wymiar Konstytucyjny I Międzynarodowy, Maciej Bernatt
Monografie CARS/CARS Monographs

Sprawa Microsoft – Studium Przypadku. Prawo Konkurencji Na Rynkach Nowych Technologii, Dawid Miąsik, Tadeusz Skoczny, Małgorzata Surdek
Monografie CARS/CARS Monographs
Trzecia publikacja z serii „Studiów i Monografii Antymonopolowych i Regulacyjnych”, będąca pokłosiem warsztatu zorganizowanego przez CARS i Kancelarię CMS Cameron McKenna w listopadzie 2007 r.

Wyłączenia Grupowe Spod Zakazu Porozumień Ograniczających Konkurencję We Wspólnocie Europejskiej I W Polsce, Agata Jurkowska, Tadeusz Skoczny
Monografie CARS/CARS Monographs

Legal Anthropology: An Introduction, James M. Donovan
Legal Anthropology: An Introduction, James M. Donovan
Law Faculty Books and Chapters
LEGAL ANTHROPOLOGY: AN INTRODUCTION offers an initial overview of the challenging debates surrounding the cross-cultural analysis of legal systems. Equal parts review and criticism, the author outlines the historical landmarks in the development of the discipline, identifying both strengths and weaknesses of each stage and contribution. LEGAL ANTHROPOLOGY suggests that future progress can be made by treating as the distinguishing feature of law the perceived fairness of structural inequalities of social systems, rather than the traditional emphasis upon sanction or dispute resolution.

Congress & Sports Agents: A Legislative History Of The Sports Agent Responsibility And Trust Act, Edmund P. Edmonds, William H. Manz, Thomas J. Kettleson.
Books
Although a majority of individual states have adopted legislation directed toward the conduct of sports agents, the federal government found it necessary to enact Public Law 108-304, the Sports Agent Responsibility and Trust Act (SPARTA). Congress has recognized that many acts of sports agents go unpunished because of disparate, ineffective, or in some cases, a complete absence of state laws.
This volume offers readers the legislative history of SPARTA, including copies of the law, reports, hearings, and related bills. An additional feature of the set is an appendix containing state legislation in this area. The appendix includes the language from …

Nova Scotia Civil Procedure Rules, Rollie Thompson
Books
The Civil Procedure Rules govern proceedings in Nova Scotia's Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. They are made and amended by the Judges of the Supreme and Appeal Courts under the authority of the Judicature Act. The Supreme Court has a "Bench Rules Committee" which consists of 10 judges. One judge is from the Court of Appeal. Working groups and sub-committees make recommendations and report to the Bench Rules Committee for final decisions on additions or amendments to the Rules and Forms.
The current version of the Civil Procedure Rules were developed by the Judges of the two Courts on …

Constitutional Adjudication: The Costa Rican Experience, Robert S. Barker
Constitutional Adjudication: The Costa Rican Experience, Robert S. Barker
Barker Books
"The purpose of this book is to present a picture of constitutional adjudication in Costa Rica in a way that will be interesting and useful to students of comparative constitutional law, legal and political history, government, and Latin American area studies. The term "constitutional adjudication," as used herein, refers to those processes and procedures by which constitutional questions are presented to and answered by judicial tribunals, and the substantive constitutional jurisprudence thus produced. The organization of the book is, for the most part, historical.
Chapter I focuses on the system of constitutional adjudication that developed gradually during the early part …
