Civil Rights--Private Education-Racially Discriminatory Admissions Policies Violate Right to Contract Provision of 42 U.S.C. § 1981
Plaintiffs, ' blacks who had been denied admission solely on the basis of their race to two all-white private schools that received no state aid,' sought damages and injunctive relief in federal district court contending that these rejections violated section 1981 of 42 U.S.C. by denying them the same right to contract as enjoyed by white citizens.

Licensing In The Eastern Bloc, Lajos Schmidt
Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law
This article will discuss the legal problems faced by American enterprises desiring to license industrial property rights--principally patents, trademarks and know-how--in Eastern Europe. Licensing in seven countries--the Soviet Union, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) and Bulgaria--will be examined. Of course, these countries form separate and independent legal and political jurisdictions; and even their cultural backgrounds differ. Any generalization about them must be taken in that context. Nonetheless, each of these countries is governed by similar political and economic principles--in particular, the principle of centralized economic planning. These common factors are reflected in common problems faced …

Industrial Property Rights In Ethiopia, Peter Winship
Faculty Journal Articles and Book Chapters
Although the Commercial Code of 1960 contemplates the promulgation of a special law governing industrial property rights, the Imperial Ethiopian Government has neither promulgated this law nor, with the exception of a draft trademark law, prepared the appropriate draft legislation. The lack of a comprehensive law has not been disastrous: until recently the number of trademarks and industrial inventions used or created in Ethiopia was very small. A number, of different legal theories, moreover, have been or could be used to protect some persons' trade marks or industrial inventions. 2 However, with the growing number of court cases related to …
