Civil Justice Reform In Social Security Adjudications, Jeffrey S. Wolfe

Part I of this Article explores the actions of the Social Security Administration over time, both as related directly to the role of the administrative law judge in the case management process and to the agency's management of the backlog crisis generally, examining the cultural environment of bureaucratic management that has, despite the passage of decades, failed to remedy a persistent animus between the agency and its cadre of administrative law judges to the public detriment. Part II next examines the core attributes of the managerial judge and contrasts this in Part III with the agency's handling of the backlog …

Gli artt. 135 e 128 della legge provinciale del Trentino Alto Adige n. 22 del 1991, modificati con legge provinciale 4 marzo 2008, n. 1, nel prevedere la possibilità per il Comune di applicare le sanzioni pecuniarie ‘‘previste dai commi 4 e 5 dell’art. 135’’ se le opere abusive ‘‘non contrastino con rilevanti interessi urbanistici’’ (art. 128, comma 8), non prevedono affatto l’obbligo della motivazione dei provvedimenti sanzionatori, i quali sono sempre vincolati anche ai sensi della normativa statale, ovvero della ragione della specifica determinazione della sanzione pecuniaria. After decades of failed interstate agreements, the Chesapeake Bay is choking on too many nutrients. The estuary’s last, best chance of recovery is the Environmental Protection Agency's Total Maximum Daily Load (“TMDL”) program, also known as a pollution diet. To meet this deadline, all polluters, including large animal farms, will need to sharply reduce the pollutants they release into the Bay. The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) must ensure that each Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (“CAFO”) has developed a facility-specific permit that details when and where manure is applied to fields and how waste is stored and handled.
