Scholar Week 2016 - present

The project given to the design team was a request from ITW Deltar to improve their packaging system for some production machines in cell C. The primary goal of the project is to optimize the safety and workflow of the packaging systems in cell C. The safety of the packaging system will be determined using the REBA risk assessment number. The workflow improvement is determined through analysis of the packaging time and the walking distances of the workers.

The design team identified the functional requirements and design constraints that need to be met. These functional requirements include the packaging system …

Reconstitution Efficiency On Elution Process, Brandon Winter, Landon Beachy, Samantha Stejskal, Zachary Rice Apr 2020

Reconstitution Efficiency On Elution Process, Brandon Winter, Landon Beachy, Samantha Stejskal, Zachary Rice

Scholar Week 2016 - present

Our group is presenting on the Reconstitution Efficiency on Elution Process for MilliporeSigma. The process that we are working with is the mixing of BAAP (Bovine Albumin Acetone Powder) into reverse osmosis water. This process is the first step of many in the making of medical test kits, of which include HIV/AID, strep throat, and pregnancy tests. Our initial task was to reduce the mixing time by 50%, however after further exploration of the problem, a more stable and consistent process turned into our primary goal and a significant reduction in time became a secondary goal. Initially, we were using …

Evaluating The Scalability Of The Sonication Method Of Graphene Oxide Synthesis, Evan Dexter May 2019

Evaluating The Scalability Of The Sonication Method Of Graphene Oxide Synthesis, Evan Dexter

Honors Program Projects

Graphene is a new material that was first isolated in 2004, and consists of one to a few atomic layers of carbon in a lattice sheet structure. Graphene has high tensile strength, high surface area, very low electrical resistance, and various other special properties that make it an excellent material for use in emerging technologies in the categories of electrical components, energy systems, and high strength applications. The production scale of graphene sheets and its variations is currently limited to laboratory use, with increasing research being conducted toward the development of manufacturing techniques of the material. We conducted experiments to …
