Information System Availability Status And Its Impact On Customer Wait Times, Joshua A. Cramer Mar 2023

Information System Availability Status And Its Impact On Customer Wait Times, Joshua A. Cramer

Theses and Dissertations

The Military Personnel Flight relies on Air Force Information Systems, specifically the Defense Enrollment Eligibility and Reporting System (DEERS), to manage the personnel records. When DEERS experiences a failure, then the operational ability of the Military Personnel Flight is affected. This study aims at identifying the impact Air Force information system’s availability status has on customer wait times using linear regression.

The Simulation Assessment Of Availability For K/N Redundancy System Considering Failure Relevance Of Components, Haidong Du, Junhai Cao, Fusheng Liu, Xu Dan Dec 2019

The Simulation Assessment Of Availability For K/N Redundancy System Considering Failure Relevance Of Components, Haidong Du, Junhai Cao, Fusheng Liu, Xu Dan

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: For the limitations existing in the system availability assessment based on the failure independent hypothesis, the availability assessment model for k/N system based on Copula function theory is built.A reliability evaluation method of fault-related system on the foundation of Agent technique is proposed. The completion of the simulation model from component entity to equipment entity resolves the question of reliability assessment existing in k/N system considering the effects of components relevance. And last, the evaluation results of system availability under different spare parts schemes are given under different material support program, the research results show that the relevance existing …

Modelling Supercomputer Maintenance Interrupts: Maintenance Policy Recommendations, Jagadish Cherukuri Aug 2015

Modelling Supercomputer Maintenance Interrupts: Maintenance Policy Recommendations, Jagadish Cherukuri

Masters Theses

A supercomputer is a repairable system with large number of compute nodes interconnected to work in harmony to achieve superior computational performance. Reliability of such a complex system depends on an effective maintenance strategy that involves both emergency and preventive maintenance. This thesis analyzes the maintenance records of four supercomputers operational at The National Institute of Computational Science located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. We propose to use the generalized proportional intensities model (GPIM) to model the maintenance interrupts as it can capture both the reliability parameters and maintenance parameters and allows the inclusion of both emergency and preventive maintenance. …

Evaluation Of Time-Varying Availability In Multi-Echelon Inventory System With Combat Damage, Hoong Chuin Lau, Huawei Song Aug 2005

Evaluation Of Time-Varying Availability In Multi-Echelon Inventory System With Combat Damage, Hoong Chuin Lau, Huawei Song

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

The models for multi-echelon inventory systems in existing literatures predominantly address failures due to reliability in peacetime. In wartime or even peacetime operational scenarios, unexpected combat damage can cause a large number of systems to be heavily damaged, to the extent that they become irreparable. In this paper, we study a multi-echelon spare parts support system under combat damage, discuss the replenishment policy and propose an approximate method to evaluate the time-varying system performance operational availability considering the effect of passivation. Experiments show our model works well and efficiently against simulation.
