The well-known reliability optimization problem, the redundancy allocation problem (RAP) involves the simultaneous selection of system components and a design level configuration that can meet several design constraints in order to optimize the predefined objective function(s). The RAP has been predominantly solved as a single objective optimization problem with the reliability of the system to be maximized or system design cost to be minimized.
