A Simulation Study Of Quality Index In Machine-Component Grouping, Hamid Seifoddini, Manocher Djassemi
A Simulation Study Of Quality Index In Machine-Component Grouping, Hamid Seifoddini, Manocher Djassemi
Industrial Technology and Packaging
Simulation modeling is employed to determine the effectiveness of quality index in screening machine-part matrices for the development of cellular manufacturing systems.
Tracking Air Force Pallets Using Rfid Technology: A Concept Study, Gary A. Gross
Tracking Air Force Pallets Using Rfid Technology: A Concept Study, Gary A. Gross
Theses and Dissertations
The lack of asset visibility experienced at Aerial Ports of Embarkation (APOEs) during Operation Desert Storm is a phenomenon that has occurred in every major conflict for the last 40 years. The costs associated with this lack of control directly relate to the combat readiness and capability of supported units. This study examined the possibility of installing a Radio Frequency Identification (RF-ID) system to track Department of Defense 463L pallets worldwide. Performance characteristics of commercially available RF-ID systems were summarized, and a conceptual Air Mobility Command (AMC) tracking system was presented. For purposes of concept study, Amtech Corporation's Intellitag RT …
The Process Of Technology Transfer: A Case Study Of The National Aero-Space Plane Program, Brett T. Smith
The Process Of Technology Transfer: A Case Study Of The National Aero-Space Plane Program, Brett T. Smith
Theses and Dissertations
Due to reduced funding levels and increased pressure towards cooperation with industry, government research and development (R&D) organizations are becoming increasingly involved in the transfer of technology to the commercial sector. However, the process of technology transfer is complex, and transfer activities are being applied inconsistently across the Department of Defense. This research explores the approaches, processes and mechanisms to accomplish technology transfer. A comprehensive literature review documents many of the transfer concepts that have been proposed or are currently in use. A detailed case study then examines the technology transfer efforts of an advanced government research organization: the National …
A Study Of The Factors Associated With Successful Technology Transfer And Their Applicability To Air Force Technology Transfers, James B. Rose
A Study Of The Factors Associated With Successful Technology Transfer And Their Applicability To Air Force Technology Transfers, James B. Rose
Theses and Dissertations
Although the United States is a world leader in scientific research, it lags behind some economic powers in the application of technologies. As quality and manufacturing excellence were critical to US competitiveness in the l98Os, so is commercializing technologies in the 199Os. With billion dollar budgets and exceptional scientific talent, the potential for fruitful technology transfer is abundant. By definition, federal-to-commercial technology transfer is the ability to leverage national investments in technology beyond their traditional customer base. The technology can be physical devices, processes, knowledge, or proprietary information. Unfortunately, and despite exhaustive legislative efforts, US industry has fallen behind its …
Assisting Defense Conversion Technology Transfer Efforts. A Case Study Of Ohio's Miami Valley, Marissa C. Salvador
Assisting Defense Conversion Technology Transfer Efforts. A Case Study Of Ohio's Miami Valley, Marissa C. Salvador
Theses and Dissertations
Major changes in the geopolitical environment and the social and economic needs of the United States have resulted in resources being shifted away from national defense. Although the expected decrease in defense spending should not be harmful in macroeconomic terms, it can be devastating locally. To mitigate the effects of the drawdown, individual states and local communities must search for ways to bolster their local economies. One avenue that can be pursued to enhance future economic growth is the transferring of technologies to the commercial sector. Intermediary organizations have emerged to facilitate the process of technology transfer by serving as …
Merits Of The Production Volume Based Similarity Coefficient In Machine Cell Formation, Hamid Seifoddini, Manocher Djassemi
Merits Of The Production Volume Based Similarity Coefficient In Machine Cell Formation, Hamid Seifoddini, Manocher Djassemi
Industrial Technology and Packaging
In this paper, two types of similarity coefficients are compared: (1) the Jaccard's coefficient and (2) the production volume based coefficient. Each is used to form a cellular manufacturing system whose performance will be used as a measure of effectiveness of the similarity coefficient. The sum of intercellular and intracellular material handling costs is used as a criterion for performance evaluation.
Retrieval Of Atmospheric Turbidity Coefficiant And Water Column Density Fro Solar Irradiance Data, Felix Tendeku
Retrieval Of Atmospheric Turbidity Coefficiant And Water Column Density Fro Solar Irradiance Data, Felix Tendeku
Journal of the Arkansas Academy of Science
Ground-based measurement of solar irradiance has been made using a spectroradiometer at wavelengths inapx-water absorption band. An algorithm is formulated to retrieve simultaneously the atmospheic water column density and Angstrom's turbidity coefficient. The transmission models used to account for the contribution from diverse atmospheic absorbing and scattering elements are presented.
Identification Of Success Factors In The Implementation Of Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, Dean Harold Jensen
Identification Of Success Factors In The Implementation Of Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, Dean Harold Jensen
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
The review of recent literature showed a clear trend within the manufacturing sector toward the integration of design and production activities through increased application of the computer. The competitive advantages of computer integration were reported, as well as increased risk due to the amount of time and capital expended in system implementation. The identification of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) success factors may reduce this risk.
Prior efforts to identify success factors for other areas of endeavor showed that success factors tended to vary with the four project phases, but were stable over time within a particular phase. More recently, empirical …
Perceived Importance Of Iso 9000 Factors As Indicators Of Quality In Industrial Technology Related Programs At Four-Year State Regional Universities, Floyd L. Olson
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Industry has often used a quality standard known as ISO 9000. No evidence has been located demonstrating the applicability of an industrial quality model to a singular academic department. The problem of this study was to determine if the guidelines for ISO 9004-2 could have been considered appropriate for Industrial Technology related programs and how they could have been used to indicate quality within such programs.
The purpose of this study was to seek knowledge relating the importance of ISO 9004-2 guidelines to audit and/or improve the quality management of Industrial Technology related departments at 4-year state regional universities. This …
