Abstract: Location awareness is very important in mobile sensor networks. The existing methods mainly focus on the improvement based on the MCL (Monte Carlo Localization), few of them study the anchor path planning. However, anchors random movement usually causes the waste of energy and resource. Aiming at this deficiency, this paper adopts the grid benefit criterion and achieves anchors adaptive movement. Threshold instead of traversal method is used to reduce the amount of calculation and positioning time. This dissertation makes contributions to the problem of Long-Term Appearance-Based Place Recognition. We present a framework for place recognition in a collaborative scheme and a method to reduce the impact of dynamic objects on place representations. We demonstrate our findings using a state-of-the-art place recognition approach.

We begin in Part I by describing the general problem of place recognition and its importance in applications where accurate localization is crucial. We discuss feature detection and description and also explain the functioning of several place recognition frameworks.

The use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has become widespread in industry as a means to quickly and wirelessly identify and track packages and equipment. Now there is a commercial interest in using RFID to provide real-time localization. Efforts to use RFID technology for this purpose experience localization errors due to noise and multipath effects inherent to these environments. This paper presents the use of both linear Kalman filters and non-linear Unscented Kalman filters to reduce error effects inherent to real-time RFID localization systems and provide more accurate localization results in indoor environments.
