Inorganic metal oxide electron-transport layers (ETLs) have the potential to yield perovskite solar cells with improved stability, but generally need high temperature to form conductive and defect-less forms, which is not compatible with the fabrication of flexible and tandem solar cells. Here, we demonstrate a facile strategy for developing efficient inorganic ETLs by doping SnO2 nanocrystals (NCs) with a small amount of Sb using a low-temperature solution-processed method. The electrical conductivity was remarkably enhanced by Sb-doping, which increased the carrier concentration in Sb:SnO2 NCs. Anti-Bacterial Activity Of Indoor Light Activated Photocatalysts, Suresh Pillai, Michael Seery, Damian Synnott, Stephen Hinder, Georg Michlits

Nanocrystalline photocatalysts, prepared under ambient conditions using a microwave assisted syn-thesis, show indoor light photocatalytic activity for the degradation of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The zinc sulphide (ZnS) nanomaterials, prepared by a microwave assisted synthesis, are shown to be cubic blende structure with an average crystallite size of 4–6 nm. The anti-bacterial activ-ity of these nanomaterials is investigated under irradiation from a 60 W light bulb and photocatalytic activity is revealed to be due to the defects present in the crystal structure. Progress Towards Terahertz Acoustic Phonon Generation In Doping Superlattices, Thomas E. Wilson

Progress is described in experiments to generate coherent terahertz acoustic phonons in silicon doping superlattices by the resonant absorption of nanosecond-pulsed far-infrared laser radiation. Future experiments are proposed that would use the superlattice as a transducer in a terahertz cryogenic acoustic reflection microscope with sub-nanometer resolution.
