Radiology Associates Medical Scan Forecasting, Everett M. Notaro, Mitchell Carpenter, Tyler Deis, Kimberly Williams Jun 2022

Radiology Associates Medical Scan Forecasting, Everett M. Notaro, Mitchell Carpenter, Tyler Deis, Kimberly Williams

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

After discontinuing their subscription with Shinyapps and relying on a manual forecasting process, Radiology Associates needs a new method to forecast the number and types of scans that will be executed at each site location. Radiology Associates utilizes Quinsite, which incorporates a live link to their database, as a host for all their Tableau dashboards. This project will create an accurate forecasting model utilizing complex forecasting methods to be hosted by Quinsite which is accessible by all management within Radiology Associates. To begin this process, an exponential smoothing model was created in Tableau to solidify dashboard and storyboard design. Additionally, …

Smartwalker – Rolling Walker Instrumentation And Data Acquisition System Development To Monitor, Visualize And Store Rolling Walker Usage Data, Mauricio Jaguan Nieves Dec 2016

Smartwalker – Rolling Walker Instrumentation And Data Acquisition System Development To Monitor, Visualize And Store Rolling Walker Usage Data, Mauricio Jaguan Nieves

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Theses

The Smart Walker project was designed to fill a necessity of monitoring in real time the use of rolling walkers (RW) and study the causes that contribute to the high rate of fallings among its users. The main objectives of the project were to measure the major forces applied by RW users in real time and store it safely for further analysis. The first prototype of the Smart Walker includes the measurement of axial load, torque and gripping force applied on the handle as well as acceleration and rotation angles while it is being used. The axial load was measured …

Cost Effective Analysis Of Big Data, Steven J. Litzsinger, Nehad Dababo Jun 2015

Cost Effective Analysis Of Big Data, Steven J. Litzsinger, Nehad Dababo

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

Executive Summary

Big data is everywhere and businesses that can access and analyze it have a huge advantage over those who can’t. One option for leveraging big data to make more informed decisions is to hire a big data consulting company to take over the entire project. This method requires the least effort, but is also the least cost effective. The problem is that the know-how for starting a big data project is not commonly known and the consulting alternative is not very cost effective. This creates the need for a cost effective approach that businesses can use to start …

Database Design For The Collection And Visualization Of Sustainabilty Data, Henry A. Kozlowski, Nikhila Perugupalli Jun 2015

Database Design For The Collection And Visualization Of Sustainabilty Data, Henry A. Kozlowski, Nikhila Perugupalli

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

The goal of the project was to create a database that would be a repository for the high volume of sustainability data Illumina would like to collect. To couple with the database the project team’s goal was to design a system for visualizing the data graphically. Illumina required a database system that would be user-friendly, easy to add, delete, and edit data inputs, as well as a program that would allow the user to easily sort and graph data. The intent of the graphical representation of the data is to publish the graphs in a monthly report that would be …

Experimental Validation Data For Cfd Of Steady And Transient Mixed Convection On A Vertical Flat Plate, Blake W. Lance May 2015

Experimental Validation Data For Cfd Of Steady And Transient Mixed Convection On A Vertical Flat Plate, Blake W. Lance

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

In this computer age, simulations are becoming common in science and engineering. One category of simulation, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), begins with physical equations but adds approximations and calibrations in order to complete solutions. Translating these equations into computer languages may cause unintended errors. If simulation results are to be used for decision making, their accuracy needs to be assessed. This accuracy assessment is the theory behind the field of Verification & Validation.

Verification involves confirming the translation of physical equations to computer language was per- formed correctly. It also features methods to detect many types of code errors. Validation …

Implementation Of Sql Server Database And Business Intelligence In An Oil And Gas Industry, Pranay Papishetty Dec 2014

Implementation Of Sql Server Database And Business Intelligence In An Oil And Gas Industry, Pranay Papishetty

Culminating Projects in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

The main objective of this project was to meet the needs of data management, capturing data from various data sources and integrating the data into a database for reporting purposes. This was achieved previously using a legacy system called as FOCUS and is now replaced by a database using SQL Server Business Intelligence. SQL Service Business Intelligence is not only used to load data into the database but also provides tools for reporting and analysis services. Loading data is done using a tool provided by SQL Server called as SSIS and reporting or representation of data is done using another …

System Identification Of A Small Low-Cost Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Using Flight Data From Low-Cost Sensors, Nathan V. Hoffer May 2014

System Identification Of A Small Low-Cost Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Using Flight Data From Low-Cost Sensors, Nathan V. Hoffer

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Remote sensing has usually been done with satellites and manned aircraft. While they can be useful, satellites and manned aircraft have issues in how quickly you can get data, process it, and go back to get more data. Small low-cost unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overcome these issues. To collect precise data a precise model of the UAV is needed to develop the autopilot, make sure the aircraft flies well, and does not break. One method of making a model is system identification (system ID). In this thesis system ID of a small low-cost fixed-wing T-tail UAV is done. The equations …

Automatic Geometric Data Migration Throughout Views Of A Model Fidelity Family, Hans L. Soderquist Mar 2006

Automatic Geometric Data Migration Throughout Views Of A Model Fidelity Family, Hans L. Soderquist

Theses and Dissertations

Changes in geometric model parameters are constant throughout the design process. Each group in an organization needs different model information at varying times during the design process. As a result many different models of the same part or assembly arise for the needs and use of each group in each design phase (from conceptual design to full product definition). When one group makes changes to a model, those changes need to be reflected in all of the models which describe the product in all groups and design phases in order for those changes to be verified against all design criteria …

Flexible Engineering Software: An Integrated Workstation Approach To Finite Element Analysis, Brant Arnold Ross Apr 1985

Flexible Engineering Software: An Integrated Workstation Approach To Finite Element Analysis, Brant Arnold Ross

Theses and Dissertations

One obstacle preventing more engineers from using finite element analysis (FEA) is the difficulty of transferring data between steps in the modeling process. A Fortran computer program, Rosetta.BYU, has been developed to open data paths between finite element preprocessors (mesh generators) and finite element analysis programs, using a custom data structure. It accepts neutral data files, Version 2.0 IGES data files, and Movie.BYU files for input/output. An application of Rosetta is described. A general workstation manager program, Davinci.BYU, is reviewed that provides a support layer between the engineer and the operating system, organizes software and data files, and facilitates on-line …
