Combining traditional methods of material analysis with in-situ monitoring of a Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) printed part, on a layer-to-layer basis, provides the data necessary to adjust printing parameters to achieve specific material properties. Additively manufactured technology has advanced in the ability to accommodate new materials and provide new use cases. Uncertainties in material properties have arisen alongside the advancements in additive manufacturing. The layer-wise print analysis will allow for detection and correlation of print anomalies to the material properties such as density, material strength, and surface roughness.
