Effect Of Lubricant Type On Deep Drawing Ratio And Drawing Force During Cylindrical Cup Deep Drawing, Walid M. Shewakh

Emirates Journal for Engineering Research

Cylindrical cup deep drawing technology is used in various manufacturing processes. For example, it is used in the automotive industry to manufacture auto parts. It is also used in the manufacture of household items. Lubricants are used in metal forming, especially deep drawing, to reduce friction between the tool and the workpiece. As a result, lubrication reduces forming energy and forming steps, increases the drawing ratio and tool life, while preventing galling, seizure and surface damages to the products. In this paper, the main purpose was to increase the deep drawing ratio and reduce the drawing force by angling the …

Aerodynamics And Aeroacoustics Optimization Of Vehicle’S Side Mirror Base And Exhaust Pipe, Moath Nayef Mohamed Zaareer Jun 2022

Aerodynamics And Aeroacoustics Optimization Of Vehicle’S Side Mirror Base And Exhaust Pipe, Moath Nayef Mohamed Zaareer

Theses

This thesis is concerned with studying two different vehicle parts in terms of aerodynamics and aeroacoustics. Two main factors determine the efficiency and luxury of the vehicle, the low aerodynamic forces and low noise emission. The aerodynamic drag coefficient is concerned with how easy a vehicle can travel through the air; the lower the value, the less fuel is needed to move the vehicle forward and less air resistance the vehicle faces. The aerodynamic lift coefficient is related to vehicle ground stability, and the more negative the value is, the higher the vehicle's stability. Moreover, the aeroacoustics is concerned with …

Utilization Of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (Tpms) Based Architectures Impregnated With Phase Change Material For Heat Transfer Applications, Zahid Ahmed Qureshi Feb 2022

Utilization Of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (Tpms) Based Architectures Impregnated With Phase Change Material For Heat Transfer Applications, Zahid Ahmed Qureshi

Dissertations

This dissertation is concerned with the utilization of mathematically architected Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) based lattices for Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage (LHTES) systems. With the advent of Additive Manufacturing (AM), TPMS structures can be readily manufactured. The objective of this dissertation was to investigate the heat transfer performance of TPMS structures vis-à-vis conventional metal foams represented by Kelvin cells while both were impregnated with a Phase Change Material (PCM). Numerical simulations were performed under various boundary conditions to assess the performance. It was found that TPMS structures outperformed conventional metal foam. Moreover, the effects of boundary conditions (isothermal …
