Infrared technology advancements have led to an expansive set of infrared applications in both the private and public sectors. New materials and manufacturing techniques have continued to reduce the cost while improving the quality of infrared cameras, but the cost is still high when compared to the cost versus quality of visible light spectrum cameras. Innovative image processing techniques can be implemented to help bridge this gap between the cost and quality of infrared cameras.
