Effects Of Heat-Treatments On Tensile Strength And Electrical Conductivity Of Locally Formulated Al-Ni Alloys, R. A. Muriana, O. K. Abubakre, S. B. Tajiri

This Paper investigated effects of annealing and age hardening on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and electrical conductivity of aluminium-nickel cast using sand mould. Pure aluminium melt was alloyed with nickel, which was added in 2% to 10% step 2. Annealing and age hardenings were carried out and obtained results showed that Al-2%Ni alloy has the highest UTS of 604.44MPa. On the other hand, Al-6%Ni Annealed alloy has the highest electrical conductivity, with a value of 6.15 × 107 S/m. The Al-4%Ni alloy combined both high strength and conductivity, having UTS of 603.28MPa and electrical conductivity of 5.69 × 107 …

An indirect passive convectional solar dryer consisting of a solar air heater and dryer chamber is designed, manufactured and tested for its performance. It plays a major role in reducing crop wastage and opens a way to food preservation. The area of the solar collector required to dry a batch of 10 kg of tomato within two days is calculated. The performance of the collector is improved through the use corrugated absorber to create turbulence for air flow and a highly insulating material to minimize heat losses. -In this paper a simple Excel based mathematical model has been developed in order to design the EATHE system for the ground floor of library of the Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur for meeting a given cooling/heating load. This model helps in determining characteristic dimensions, air flow rate, number of pipes, selection of blower and economic investments in an EATHE system. A thermal comfort survey was also conducted to find the thermal comfort temperature inside the library of MNIT, which is approx 28.6 0C, quiet near to the temperature obtained through this EATHE system.

Environmentally benign, economically viable, and socially acceptable agronomic strategies are needed to launch a sustainable lignocellulosic biofuel industry. Our objective was to demonstrate a landscape planning process that can ensure adequate supplies of corn (Zea mays L.) stover feedstock while protecting and improving soil quality. The Landscape Environmental Assessment Framework (LEAF) was used to develop land use strategies that were then scaled up for five U.S. Corn Belt states (Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota) to illustrate the impact that could be achieved. This paper deals with the performance and emission analysis of a multicylinder diesel engine using biodiesel along with an in-depth analysis of the engine heat losses in different subsystems followed by the energy balance of all the energy flows from the engine. Energy balance analysis allows the designer to appraise the internal energy variations of a thermodynamic system as a function of ‘‘energy flows’’ across the control volume as work or heat and also the enthalpies associated with the energy flows which are passing through these boundaries. This article provides an analysis of processes for separation CO2 by using carbonic anhydrase enzyme with particular emphasis on reactive-membrane solutions. Three available processes are characterised. Main challenges and prospects are given. It is found that in view of numerous challenges practical applications of these processes will be difficult in near future. Further research is therefore needed for improving existing processes through finding methods for eliminating their main drawbacks such as short lifetime of carbonic anhydrase or low resistance of reactive membrane systems to impurities contained in flue gases from power plants.

The interaction between gasses, liquids, and solids plays a critical role in many processes, such as coating, granulation and the blast furnace process. In this paper we present a comprehensive numerical model for three phase flow including droplets, particles and gas. By means of a coupled Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) - Discrete Element Method (DEM) approach the physical core phenomena are pictured at a detailed level. Sub-models for droplet deformation, breakup and coalescence as well as droplet-particle and wet particle-particle interaction are applied. The feasibility of this model approach is demonstrated by its application to a rotating drum coater. The …
