Parametric Modeling Of Biomimetic Sharkskin For Wire Edm For Drag Reduction And Hydrophobicity, Joel Maxwell

This research sets out to demonstrate the viability of parametric modeling for biomimetic sharkskin in the effort to reduce drag and create a self-cleaning surface. Multiple designs were created to be machined by Wire EDM on stainless steel and titanium and were comparatively tested. Limitations of current manufacturing processes to economically produce naturally occurring structures such as sharkskin, emphasize the need to be able to calculate the most accurate design for a given manufacturing process.
