How to seize the opportunity window opened by the fourth industrial revolution and enhance the international competitive advantage of advanced manufacturing has become an important issue concerned by existing research and policy practitioners. This study analyzes the background, characteristics, and influence of the fourth industrial revolution on the development of advanced manufacturing industry. Based on this, it discusses the development status and problems of four types of advanced manufacturing industries, including digitally empowered new infrastructure industries, intelligent manufacturing high-end equipment industries, brand-oriented new consumption industries, and science-based industries.
