An important, but seldom investigated issue in the field of dynamic vehicle routing and dispatching is how to exploit information about future events to improve decision making. In this paper, we address this issue in a real-time setting with a strategy based on probabilistic knowledge about future request arrivals to better manage the fleet of vehicles. More precisely, the new strategy introduces dummy customers (representing forecasted requests) in vehicle routes to provide a good coverage of the territory. This strategy is assessed through computational experiments performed in a simulated environment.

In industrial applications Lubricant temperature decrease is a desired aim in the case of lubricant and gears performance. In this paper the procedure of optimization of worm gears performance by considering the proper contact pattern position had been performed. In accordance with required axial shift in worm wheel axis the contact pattern optimized and as a result the lubricant temperature decreased. This procedure leads to increase gears efficiency and their effective life.

In this work, we present some novel analytic and finite elements solutions to the steady-state Euler beam equation subject to certain loads and boundary conditions. The finite element solutions are shown to be in good agreement with the analytic solutions. Error bound and stability of the finite element scheme are proved.

In this paper, we use Hermite cubic finite elements to approximate the solutions of a nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli beam equation. The equation is derived from Hollomon’s generalized Hooke’s law for work hardening materials with the assumptions of the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The Ritz-Galerkin finite element procedure is used to form a finite dimensional nonlinear program problem, and a nonlinear conjugate gradient scheme is implemented to find the minimizer of the Lagrangian. Convergence of the finite element approximations is analyzed and some error estimates are presented. A Matlab finite element code is developed to provide numerical solutions to the beam equation.
