Effect Of Aluminum Alloy Surface Modification On Adhesion Of The Modified Polyurethane Coating And Its Corrosion Protective Performance, Xian-Yin Kuang, Shao-Qiang Jin, Yan-Hui Cao, Yan-Mei Zhang, Shi-Gang Dong, Long-Hui Zhu, Li-Wen Lin, Chang-Jian Lin

Journal of Electrochemistry

The ordinary organic coatings on aluminum alloy usually encounter a problem of low adhesion to the substrate, which results in destruction and failure of the long-term protective performance of the anticorrosion systems. The surface modification of aluminum alloy is able to enhance the adhesion of organic coating on aluminum alloys, and to improve their protective performance. In this work, a combined surface modification of anodic oxidation and mussel adhesion protein/CeO2/3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane composite film (MCA) was developed on the aluminum alloy. The adhesion of modified polyurethane coated on the treated aluminum alloy and its corrosion protective performance were evaluated comprehensively …

Passivation Behavior Of Aluminum Alloy During Electrochemical Machining And Its Effects On The Machining Performance, Li-Min Jiang, Wen-Bo Deng, Jun-Long Ying Feb 2014

Passivation Behavior Of Aluminum Alloy During Electrochemical Machining And Its Effects On The Machining Performance, Li-Min Jiang, Wen-Bo Deng, Jun-Long Ying

Journal of Electrochemistry

The passivation behavior of aluminum alloy during electrochemical machining was investigated and discussed. The effects of processing voltage, current density, space of electrodes and electrolyte composition on electrochemical machining performance were explored. The results indicate that the electrochemical machining aluminum alloy in the composite electrolyte system containing NaNO3 and NaF existed passivation phenomenon. Passivation action decreaseed the current efficiency and made it varied greatly with the current density. Also the passivation shifted the interspace characteristic curve of electrode notably to a negative direction. There was not passivation phenomenon in the composite electrolyte system containing the same concentrations of NaCl …

Potential Fluctuations Of 7075 Aluminum Alloy Under Thin Electrolyte Layers, Su-Jing Chen May 2005

Potential Fluctuations Of 7075 Aluminum Alloy Under Thin Electrolyte Layers, Su-Jing Chen

Journal of Electrochemistry

Lens tissues adsorbing 3.5% sodium chloride solution were used to simulate thin electrolyte layers. The 7075 aluminum alloy was immersed under the thin electrolyte layers for 0, 4, 6, 8 and 12 h respectively. Then the fluctuations of natural-corrosion potentials of the alloy were monitored. The fluctuations of natural-corrosion potential were observed rather small in the initial corrosion stages after 6h immersion, and the positive peaks of potential appeared. However the amplitudes reached 20mV after 4h and 12h immersion. The RMS of natural-corrosion potentials decreased with corrosion time at first and then increased. It reached a minimum at 4 h. …

The Technique Of Rare-Earth Conversion Coatings On Aluminum Alloy, Jun-Tao Wang, Jian-Hua Wu, Guang-Zhang Chen Aug 2003

The Technique Of Rare-Earth Conversion Coatings On Aluminum Alloy, Jun-Tao Wang, Jian-Hua Wu, Guang-Zhang Chen

Journal of Electrochemistry

The orthogonal design was used to screen the film_forming technique on LY12 aluminum alloy using quadrivalent cerium salt, and the corrosion_resistance performance of the coating was studied. The results revealed that: after LY12 aluminum alloy was treated by cerium salt, its pitting potential shifts to positive direction while the corrosion potential slightly decreases, showing that the alloy becomes less sensitive to pitting corrosion was greatly improved, comparable to that after chromate treatment; in addition, by combining the results of electrochemical measurements with surface analysis, the mechanism of corrosion_resistance on the race_earth conversion coating of the aluminum alloy was also discussed.

An Investigation Of Inhibition Mechanism Of Cerium For Aluminum Alloy 2024-T3, Min Hua Shao, Yan Fu, Rong Gang Hu, Chang-Jian Lin Feb 2002

An Investigation Of Inhibition Mechanism Of Cerium For Aluminum Alloy 2024-T3, Min Hua Shao, Yan Fu, Rong Gang Hu, Chang-Jian Lin

Journal of Electrochemistry

Cerium compounds are promising inhibitors for aluminum alloy. However, the inhibition mechanism is not very clear. Scanning microreference electrode(SMRE)technique was used to probe the potential imaging of Al 2024 T3 in NaCl and CeCl 3 solution. The results of SMRE showed that in NaCl solution a severe localized corrosion occurred on the surface of Al 2024 specimen at once and maintained for a long time. The corrosion activity of Al alloy in CeCl 3 decreased with immersion time and disappeared finally. Additionally, the competition of inhibition and aggression between Ce 3+ and Cl - on Al alloy was in situ …
