Design And Implementation Of An Isfet Sensor With Integration Of An On-Chip Processor, Shaghayegh Aslanzadeh
Design And Implementation Of An Isfet Sensor With Integration Of An On-Chip Processor, Shaghayegh Aslanzadeh
Doctoral Dissertations
Portable sensors are used in many applications. Among them, pH sensors are suitable for quantifying and identifying various analytes in real-time and doing so non-invasively. The analytes may have environmental impact such as in water quality monitoring. The analytes may also have biological impact such as monitoring cell culture or remote patient health assessment. CMOS based sensors are compact and enable low power consumption suitable for these portable applications.
This work reports on the development of a portable CMOS based pH sensor. The contributions of this dissertation are as follows. First, a differential pH sensor, with two different sized electrodes …
Modeling, Analysis, And Control Of A Mobile Robot For In Vivo Fluoroscopy Of Human Joints During Natural Movements, Matthew A. Young
Modeling, Analysis, And Control Of A Mobile Robot For In Vivo Fluoroscopy Of Human Joints During Natural Movements, Matthew A. Young
Doctoral Dissertations
In this dissertation, the modeling, analysis and control of a multi-degree of freedom (mdof) robotic fluoroscope was investigated. A prototype robotic fluoroscope exists, and consists of a 3 dof mobile platform with two 2 dof Cartesian manipulators mounted symmetrically on opposite sides of the platform. One Cartesian manipulator positions the x-ray generator and the other Cartesian manipulator positions the x-ray imaging device. The robotic fluoroscope is used to x-ray skeletal joints of interest of human subjects performing natural movement activities. In order to collect the data, the Cartesian manipulators must keep the x-ray generation and imaging devices accurately aligned while …
Development And Experimental Analysis Of Wireless High Accuracy Ultra-Wideband Localization Systems For Indoor Medical Applications, Michael Joseph Kuhn
Development And Experimental Analysis Of Wireless High Accuracy Ultra-Wideband Localization Systems For Indoor Medical Applications, Michael Joseph Kuhn
Doctoral Dissertations
This dissertation addresses several interesting and relevant problems in the field of wireless technologies applied to medical applications and specifically problems related to ultra-wideband high accuracy localization for use in the operating room. This research is cross disciplinary in nature and fundamentally builds upon microwave engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, and biomedical engineering. A good portion of this work has been published in peer reviewed microwave engineering and biomedical engineering conferences and journals. Wireless technologies in medicine are discussed with focus on ultra-wideband positioning in orthopedic surgical navigation. Characterization of the operating room as a medium for ultra-wideband signal transmission …
Low-Voltage Bulk-Driven Amplifier Design And Its Application In Implantable Biomedical Sensors, Liang Zuo
Low-Voltage Bulk-Driven Amplifier Design And Its Application In Implantable Biomedical Sensors, Liang Zuo
Doctoral Dissertations
The powering unit usually represents a significant component of the implantable biomedical sensor system since the integrated circuits (ICs) inside for monitoring different physiological functions consume a great amount of power. One method to reduce the volume of the powering unit is to minimize the power supply voltage of the entire system. On the other hand, with the development of the deep sub-micron CMOS technologies, the minimum channel length for a single transistor has been scaled down aggressively which facilitates the reduction of the chip area as well. Unfortunately, as an inevitable part of analytic systems, analog circuits such as …
Design Of Wireless Power Transfer And Data Telemetry System For Biomedical Applications, Ashraf Bin Islam
Design Of Wireless Power Transfer And Data Telemetry System For Biomedical Applications, Ashraf Bin Islam
Doctoral Dissertations
With the advancement of biomedical instrumentation technologies sensor based remote healthcare monitoring system is gaining more attention day by day. In this system wearable and implantable sensors are placed outside or inside of the human body. Certain sensors are needed to be placed inside the human body to acquire the information on the vital physiological phenomena such as glucose, lactate, pH, oxygen, etc. These implantable sensors have associated circuits for sensor signal processing and data transmission. Powering the circuit is always a crucial design issue. Batteries cannot be used in implantable sensors which can come in contact with the blood …
