U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is the government agency that manages immigration to the United States. They are not only working on filing documents, but also analyzing those data they have. They require help from a visualization system to know the trend of immigration among offices across the country over time. We developed a project called CIS Map Drawer that is used to help build a visualization system for USCIS in order to analyze immigration data easily. This system makes use of a map view, a calendar visual representation, line charts, pixel drawing and other analysis tools to improve …
Use Of Immersive Visualization For The Control Of Dental Anxiety During Dental Hygiene Treatment, Carmelo Padrino-Barrios
Use Of Immersive Visualization For The Control Of Dental Anxiety During Dental Hygiene Treatment, Carmelo Padrino-Barrios
Dental Hygiene Theses & Dissertations
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of immersive visualization (IV) therapy, a technique that provides visual and stereoscopic display through the use of eyewear, in anxious patients during an oral prophylaxis. Methods: A convenience sample of thirty adults was enrolled. A split mouth design was utilized. Subjects were randomly divided into two groups: group A (use of IV for the right side of the mouth), and group B (use of IV for the left side of the mouth). Subjects received a full mouth oral prophylaxis (removal of supra and subgingival calculus and selective polishing), always …

Technology Corner Visualising Forensic Data: Evidence (Part 1), Damian Schofield, Ken Fowle
Journal of Digital Forensics, Security and Law
Visualisation is becoming increasingly important for understanding information, such as investigative data (for example: computing, medical and crime scene evidence) and analysis (for example: network capability assessment, data file reconstruction and planning scenarios). Investigative data visualisation is used to reconstruct a scene or item and is used to assist the viewer (who may well be a member of the general public with little or no understanding of the subject matter) to understand what is being presented. Analysis visualisations, on the other hand, are usually developed to review data, information and assess competing scenario hypotheses for those who usually have an …

Visualizing Confusion Matrices For Multidimensional Signal Detection Correlational Methods And Semantic Cluster Based Visualization In Virtual Environments, Yue Zhou
Browse all Theses and Dissertations
General Recognition Theory (GRT) is a multidimensional signal detection theory framework for capturing sources of perceptual and decisional dependence. The primary type of data for GRT models is an identification-confusion matrix derived in a complete factorial identification task. This confusion matrix plots the responses of study participant for a given signal. The responses may reveal that participants were unable to recognize the signal properly. Such violations of any type of independence in the GRT framework result in response patterns that reflect some form of correlation in the GRT space. While an individual confusion matrix is rather small and relatively easy …
