Trip Based Modeling Of Fuel Consumption In Modern Heavy-Duty Vehicles Using Artificial Intelligence, Sasanka Katreddi, Arvind Thiruvengadam Dec 2021

Trip Based Modeling Of Fuel Consumption In Modern Heavy-Duty Vehicles Using Artificial Intelligence, Sasanka Katreddi, Arvind Thiruvengadam

Faculty & Staff Scholarship

Heavy-duty trucks contribute approximately 20% of fuel consumption in the United States of America (USA). The fuel economy of heavy-duty vehicles (HDV) is affected by several real-world parameters like road parameters, driver behavior, weather conditions, and vehicle parameters, etc. Although modern vehicles comply with emissions regulations, potential malfunction of the engine, regular wear and tear, or other factors could affect vehicle performance. Predicting fuel consumption per trip based on dynamic on-road data can help the automotive industry to reduce the cost and time for on-road testing. Data modeling can easily help to diagnose the reason behind fuel consumption with a …

Vertical Stress And Stability Of Interburden Over An Abandoned Pillar Working Before Upward Mining: A Case Study, Jinwen Bai, Guorui Feng, Shanyong Wang, Tingye Qi, Jian Yang, Jun Guo, Zhen Li, Xianjie Du, Zehua Wang, Yunlou Du, Yujiang Zhang Jan 2018

Vertical Stress And Stability Of Interburden Over An Abandoned Pillar Working Before Upward Mining: A Case Study, Jinwen Bai, Guorui Feng, Shanyong Wang, Tingye Qi, Jian Yang, Jun Guo, Zhen Li, Xianjie Du, Zehua Wang, Yunlou Du, Yujiang Zhang

Upward mining of the residual coal seam over an abandoned pillar working is one of the effective measures to alleviate the contradiction between limited resources and increased consumption. Interburden stability over an abandoned pillar working plays a significant role in guaranteeing the safety of upward mining; however, it has not yet been extensively studied and understood. In this study, the vertical stress of the interburden over an abandoned pillar working was first investigated. The mechanical model of the interburden was established and the damage conditions were analysed. Then, the stability of the interburden over 38502 abandoned workings in Baijiazhuang coal …

Matrix Effect Study And Immunoassay Detection Using Electrolyte-Gated Graphene Biosensor, Jianbo Sun, Yuxin Liu Jan 2018

Matrix Effect Study And Immunoassay Detection Using Electrolyte-Gated Graphene Biosensor, Jianbo Sun, Yuxin Liu

Faculty & Staff Scholarship

Significant progress has been made on the development of electrolyte-gated graphene field effect transistor (EGGFET) biosensors over the last decade, yet they are still in the stage of proof-of-concept. In this work, we studied the electrolyte matrix effects, including its composition, pH and ionic strength, and demonstrate that variations in electrolyte matrices have a significant impact on the Fermi level of the graphene channel and the sensitivity of the EGGFET biosensors. This is attributed to the polarization-induced interaction between the electrolyte and the graphene at the interface which can lead to considerable modulation of the Fermi level of the graphene …

The Internet Name Game And The Nonprofit Solution, Roger A. Lohmann Oct 1999

The Internet Name Game And The Nonprofit Solution, Roger A. Lohmann

Faculty & Staff Scholarship

This paper is a case study of the campaign to create a new internet names authority to handle the assignment of internet domain names. Almost everyone knows by now that the Internet was originally a defense research project, which morphed into a research network for scientists and then into a tool of higher education and eventually into the commercial and general household utility we know today. In terms familiar to nonprofit research community what began in the state sector, expanded into the third sector and then into the market and household sectors and the consumer economy. There is a second …

Love, Death And The Hexadecimal, Roger A. Lohmann

Faculty & Staff Scholarship

This paper analyzes the role of information in social casework practice. Three models of computer-based information processing are discussed: Cybernetic, Management Information Systems and Natural Language Processing. The latter is most consistent with social casework information needs because of its potential to focus on the problems of the meaning of social action.
