Asymptotic Orthogonal Space Shift Keying In Massive Mimo Systems, Won Mee Jang Jul 2019

Asymptotic Orthogonal Space Shift Keying In Massive Mimo Systems, Won Mee Jang

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications

We investigate space shift keying, which is a simple form of spatial modulation. The bit error rate performance of line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) was obtained in the literature with orthogonal subchannels for indoor millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications. It is essential to impose a rigid restriction on the distance between the transmitter and the receiver and antenna spacing to maintain orthogonal subchannels. However, in wireless communications, it is not viable to meet the strict distance requirements since user equipment is portable. We propose asymptotic orthogonal space shift keying with mobile stations. The asymptotic orthogonal space shift keying approaches orthogonal subchannels …

System capacity and service coverage are the most critical performance metrics in cellular wireless communication networks. Usually, system capacity enhancements are at the expense of service coverage degradations, and vice versa. This capacity-coverage tradeoff and the associated joint optimization problem becomes very challenging in massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems, due to a large amount of antenna tilt values to be configured and very sophisticated inter-cell interference conditions, under massive antenna scenarios. This paper proposes a novel approach, namely group alignment of user signal strength (GAUSS), to efficiently support the user scheduling for the massive MIMO system, and thus serve …

Spatial Domain Management And Massive Mimo Coordination In 5g Sdn, Songlin Sun, Bo Rong, Rose Qingyang Hu, Yi Qian

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications

In 5G mobile communication systems, massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and heterogeneous networks (HetNets) play crucial roles to achieve expected coverage and capacity across venues. This paper correspondingly addresses software-defined network (SDN) as the central controller of radio resource management in massive MIMO HetNets. In particular, we identify the huge spatial domain information management and complicated MIMO coordination as the grand challenges in 5G systems. Our work accordingly distinguishes itself by considering more network MIMO aspects, including flexibility and complexity of spatial coordination. In our proposed scheme, SDN controller first collects the user channel state information in an effective way, and …
