Accurate traffic classification is fundamentally important for various network activities such as fine-grained network management and resource utilisation. Port-based approaches, deep packet inspection and machine learning are widely used techniques to classify and analyze network traffic flows. However, over the past several years, the growth of Internet traffic has been explosive due to the greatly increased number of Internet users. Therefore, both port-based and deep packet inspection approaches have become inefficient due to the exponential growth of the Internet applications that incurs high computational cost. The emerging paradigm of software-defined networking has reshaped the network architecture by detaching the control …
Special Issue: Neutrosophic Information Theory And Applications, Florentin Smarandache, Jun Ye
Special Issue: Neutrosophic Information Theory And Applications, Florentin Smarandache, Jun Ye
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
Neutrosophiclogic, symboliclogic, set, probability, statistics, etc.,are, respectively, generalizations of fuzzy and intuitionistic fuzzy logic and set, classical and imprecise probability, classical statistics, and so on. Neutrosophic logic, symbol logic, and set are gaining significant attention in solving many real-life problems that involve uncertainty, impreciseness, vagueness, incompleteness, inconsistency, and indeterminacy. A number of new neutrosophic theories have been proposed and have been applied in computational intelligence, multiple-attribute decision making, image processing, medical diagnosis, fault diagnosis, optimization design, etc. This Special Issue gathers original research papers that report on the state of the art, as well as on recent advancements in neutrosophic information theory in soft computing, artificial intelligence, …
Storage Management Of Data-Intensive Computing Systems, Yiqi Xu
Storage Management Of Data-Intensive Computing Systems, Yiqi Xu
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Computing systems are becoming increasingly data-intensive because of the explosion of data and the needs for processing the data, and storage management is critical to application performance in such data-intensive computing systems. However, existing resource management frameworks in these systems lack the support for storage management, which causes unpredictable performance degradations when applications are under I/O contention. Storage management of data-intensive systems is a challenging problem because I/O resources cannot be easily partitioned and distributed storage systems require scalable management. This dissertation presents the solutions to address these challenges for typical data-intensive systems including high-performance computing (HPC) systems and big-data …
Exploring Hidden Coherent Feature Groups And Temporal Semantics For Multimedia Big Data Analysis, Yimin Yang
Exploring Hidden Coherent Feature Groups And Temporal Semantics For Multimedia Big Data Analysis, Yimin Yang
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Thanks to the advanced technologies and social networks that allow the data to be widely shared among the Internet, there is an explosion of pervasive multimedia data, generating high demands of multimedia services and applications in various areas for people to easily access and manage multimedia data. Towards such demands, multimedia big data analysis has become an emerging hot topic in both industry and academia, which ranges from basic infrastructure, management, search, and mining to security, privacy, and applications. Within the scope of this dissertation, a multimedia big data analysis framework is proposed for semantic information management and retrieval with …
