An Inside Vs. Outside Classification System For Wi-Fi Iot Devices, Paul Gralla Apr 2021

An Inside Vs. Outside Classification System For Wi-Fi Iot Devices, Paul Gralla

Dartmouth College Undergraduate Theses

We are entering an era in which Smart Devices are increasingly integrated into our daily lives. Everyday objects are gaining computational power to interact with their environments and communicate with each other and the world via the Internet. While the integration of such devices offers many potential benefits to their users, it also gives rise to a unique set of challenges. One of those challenges is to detect whether a device belongs to one’s own ecosystem, or to a neighbor – or represents an unexpected adversary. An important part of determining whether a device is friend or adversary is to …

Ble Key Agreement Scheme Based On Rssi Variation Trend, Xinghao Zhang, Yicai Huang, Bin Yu Jun 2020

Ble Key Agreement Scheme Based On Rssi Variation Trend, Xinghao Zhang, Yicai Huang, Bin Yu

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Based on the variation trend of received signal strength index, a lightweight BLE key agreement scheme was proposed. Using adaptive frequency hopping, the variation of channel characteristics was strengthened. According to the randomness and reciprocity of BLE channel characteristics in coherence time, the RSSI of BLE signal was measured. And the real-time key was produced by calculating the variation trend. On the basis of experiments results, the randomness of key can be ensured, and a high key generation rate has been reached at the same time. The scheme can be applied to resource-constrained applications.

Bvire Improved Algorithm For Indoor Localization Based On Rfid And A Linearregression Model, Noor Bahaaldin, Ergun Erçelebi̇ Jan 2018

Bvire Improved Algorithm For Indoor Localization Based On Rfid And A Linearregression Model, Noor Bahaaldin, Ergun Erçelebi̇

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Traditional indoor location technologies such as infrared technology and ultrasonic technology are complex, expensive, or having unsatisfactory location accuracy. Radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies are very popular in many areas since their costs are very low. The tag in such technologies acts as the transmitter, and the radio signal strength indicator (RSSI) information is measured at the reader. However, RSSI information suffers strictly from the multipath circumstance and circumferential elements. Therefore, the localization accuracy of the boundary will be affected severely. In order to solve this problem, we introduce the boundary virtual reference label (BVIRE) algorithm to well utilize RFID …

Wi-Fi Finger-Printing Based Indoor Localization Using Nano-Scale Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Appala Narasimha Raju Chekuri Jan 2018

Wi-Fi Finger-Printing Based Indoor Localization Using Nano-Scale Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Appala Narasimha Raju Chekuri

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Explosive growth in the number of mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches has escalated the demand for localization-based services, spurring development of numerous indoor localization techniques. Especially, widespread deployment of wireless LANs prompted ever increasing interests in WiFi-based indoor localization mechanisms. However, a critical shortcoming of such localization schemes is the intensive time and labor requirements for collecting and building the WiFi fingerprinting database, especially when the system needs to cover a large space. In this thesis, we propose to automate the WiFi fingerprint survey process using a group of nano-scale unmanned aerial vehicles (NAVs). The proposed system significantly …
