Blokus Game Solver, Chin Chao
Blokus Game Solver, Chin Chao
Computer Engineering
Blokus (officially pronounced as “Block us”) is an abstract strategy board game with transparent Tetris-shaped, color pieces that players are trying to place onto the board. However, the players can only place a piece that touches at least one corner of their own pieces on the board. The ultimate goal of the game is to place as many pieces onto the board as a player can while blocking off the opponent’s ability to place more pieces onto the board. Each player has pieces with different shapes and sizes that can be placed onto the board, where each block within a …
Real Time And High Fidelity Quadcopter Tracking System, Tyler Mckay Hall
Real Time And High Fidelity Quadcopter Tracking System, Tyler Mckay Hall
Computer Engineering
This project was conceived as a desired to have an affordable, flexible and physically compact tracking system for high accuracy spatial and orientation tracking. Specifically, this implementation is focused on providing a low cost motion capture system for future research. It is a tool to enable the further creation of systems that would require the use of accurate placement of landing pads, payload acquires and delivery. This system will provide the quadcopter platform a coordinate system that can be used in addition to GPS.
Field research with quadcopter manufacturers, photographers, agriculture and research organizations were contact and interviewed for information …

Computer Engineering
Poly Drop is a software interface to control an Open Drop digital micro-fluidics system. We obtained a hardware system from Gaudi labs. Our task was to create a Graphical User Interface that made the control of the device easier and more automated for better testing. We created software that had 3 parts: a control GUI, arduino code to control the hardware, and Image Analysis that gives the user information such as location and color of liquid drops as they move across the electrode grid of the Open Drop system. The GUI was developed using Java Swing. The communication between the …

“The ability to connect, communicate with, and remotely manage an incalculable number of networked, automated devices via the Internet is becoming pervasive, from the commercial kitchen to the residential basement room to the arm of the fitness buff.” - WSO2
In this report, we will investigate procedures and technologies used in IoT. A variety of cloud platforms will be described to demonstrate its strengths and usage on IoT applications. Furthermore, demonstrate the most popular hardware being used in several of these applications. This report is aimed to give a good understanding on what it takes to put together an IoT …

Looped: Ios Application, Barbara Alejandra Wong, Lia Zadoyan
Computer Engineering
Looped is a crowd-sourced music-making iOS application. It is designed to bring friends together through creating melodies by looping mp3 samples. A user will choose a sound from the Looped sound database, loop that sound however he or she chooses, and then post it to their friends. The next user can then pick another sound, and loop that sound on top of the previously posted loop, creating an overlay of sound samples. The sound database is comprised of mp3’s provided by the creators of Patatap. Patatap is a simple online interface for playing sounds with your computer keyboard.

Cal Poly Wow: Week Of Welcome’S Leader Android Application, Eric Cerney
Cal Poly Wow: Week Of Welcome’S Leader Android Application, Eric Cerney
Computer Engineering
The Week of Welcome Android application aims to improve the efficiency and ease at which Orientation Leaders function during the week long program designed to aid in new student
assimilation to the San Luis Obispo campus and community. It focuses on four utilities combined in
one easy location that Leaders use on a regular basis. They are maps, the online guidebook, budget keeper, and contact list. These four utilities are commonly used by Leaders in their day to day
guidance of new students, making one single application with each tool very desirable to the WOW Program.
Currently there are no …

A Low Power Touch Screen Document Viewer, Chris Perfetto
Computer Engineering
This document will cover the requirements, design, implementation and testing of a low power touch screen document viewer to serve as a replacement bulletin board. It was Implemented using a BeagleBoard development board, a 4.3” touchscreen LCD and a SD card with a Ubuntu Linux OS installed. The testing of this device is primarily testing the power consumption. The device is not yet complete and will require further development for it to completely satisfy the requirements.

Digital media players often include a visualization component that allows a user to watch a visualization synchronized to their music or videos. This project uses the visualization plugin API of an existing media playback program (WinAmp) but it displays its visuals using physical LED lights. Instead of outputting visuals to the computer screen, data is sent over USB to a micro controller that runs the LED lights. This project aims to give users a more visceral visual experience than traditional visualizations on the computer screen.
