Application Of Event Tree Analysis In Wildfire Risk Assessment For The City Of Kelowna, Md. Nurul Alam Apr 2011

Application Of Event Tree Analysis In Wildfire Risk Assessment For The City Of Kelowna, Md. Nurul Alam

Md. Nurul Alam

The devastating inferno of the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire of 2003, which caused significant damage to infrastructure, home, private properties and caused evacuation of affected people from the City of Kelowna. Consequently, it raised the importance of conducting a risk assessment for the City. This study focused on analyzing the existing risks from wild fire, and the estimation of loss and damage with the help of proposed event tree method for the City of Kelowna. Finally, the risky areas have been represented spatially with the help of geographic information system (GIS) to provide a basis for an effective decision making …

Escalamiento De Dispersión De Contaminantes En La Ciudad De México, Francisco J. Valdes-Parada, J. Ruben Varela-Ham Apr 2010

Escalamiento De Dispersión De Contaminantes En La Ciudad De México, Francisco J. Valdes-Parada, J. Ruben Varela-Ham

Francisco J. Valdes-Parada

Study On The Activity Of New Amine Based Absorbents For Co2 Absorption From Flue Gases, João F. Gomes Jan 2010

Study On The Activity Of New Amine Based Absorbents For Co2 Absorption From Flue Gases, João F. Gomes

João F Gomes

The capture of CO2 from flue gases can be done by chemical absorption with aqueous amine solutions like MEA (monoethanolamine). Although this is a proven process, there are still operational problems to overcome [1], namely those resulting from solvent degradation, precipitation, corrosion and foaming. Also, the absorption capacity of the most current amines must be improved in order to obtain a more profitable operation. It has been shown previously that relationships exist between the amine structure and the activity/capacity for CO2 absorption. The introduction of amine substituents at the α-carbon creates a carbamate instability, which causes the hydrolysis to go …

Modelado Matemático En Ingeniería, Francisco J. Valdes-Parada Oct 2008

Modelado Matemático En Ingeniería, Francisco J. Valdes-Parada

Francisco J. Valdes-Parada

Evaluating And Estimating The Effect Ofland Use Changed On Water Quality At Selorejo Reservoir, Indonesia, Mohammad Sholichin - - Dec 2006

Evaluating And Estimating The Effect Ofland Use Changed On Water Quality At Selorejo Reservoir, Indonesia, Mohammad Sholichin - -

Mohammad Sholichin - -

Nutrients are necessary for the survival of living organisms. The most important nutrient in aquatic ecosystem is typically Nitrogen (N) and Phosphorus (P). It was considered to be an important water quality concern in Konto River Basin due to a high water pollutant indication problem of reservoir Selorejo. Nitrogen and phosphorous are the two nutrients originating from inorganic and organic fertilizer that affect the reservoir water quality due to intensive agricultural farming. Increased N and P fertilizer application on the agriculture activity has larges N and P nutrient burdens to the reservoir through runoff and leaching. The aim of this …
