Model Test Study On Dynamic Response Characteristics Of Host Rockmass And Supporting Bolt Under Blasting Load, Shi-Hai Chen, Jia-Chen Gong, Shuai-Wei Hu

Rock and Soil Mechanics

To study the dynamic response characteristics of host rockmass and supporting bolt under blasting load, a three-dimensional dynamic loading physical model test was performed using an underground engineering model test system. The propagation law of blasting seismic wave and the dynamic response characteristics of supporting bolt were tested using electric spark source instead of traditional explosives. Experimental research results show that the electric spark source has the characteristic of the impact loading, which can well replace traditional high explosives. The radial acceleration peak values and the axial and hoop strain peak values of blasting seismic wave within host rock do …

Physical Modeling Study On Treatment Of Waste Slurry With Vacuum Preloading At Bottom Combined With Upper Surcharge Loading, Liang-Tong Zhan, Bin Zhang, Xiao-Gang Guo, Wen-Hao Jiang Mar 2021

Physical Modeling Study On Treatment Of Waste Slurry With Vacuum Preloading At Bottom Combined With Upper Surcharge Loading, Liang-Tong Zhan, Bin Zhang, Xiao-Gang Guo, Wen-Hao Jiang

Rock and Soil Mechanics

To solve the safety problem of using waste slurry to backfill discarded open pit mine, the treatment method of vacuum preloading at bottom combined with upper surcharge loading is implemented in the model test. The feasibility of using this method in the backfilling of discarded open pit mine is discussed. The test results show that the proposed method can significantly reduce the water content of the slurry and increase the shear strength of the soil. The water content of the slurry reduces from 450% to 95%–105%, and the reduction of volume reaches 73.4%. The undrained shear strength increases from zero …

Model Test On Bearing Characteristic Of Static Drill Rooted Energy Pile, Fu-Yuan Li, Zhong-Jin Wang, Xin-Yu Xie, Yang Lou, Kui-Hua Wang, Peng-Fei Fang, Ling-Wei Zheng Mar 2021

Model Test On Bearing Characteristic Of Static Drill Rooted Energy Pile, Fu-Yuan Li, Zhong-Jin Wang, Xin-Yu Xie, Yang Lou, Kui-Hua Wang, Peng-Fei Fang, Ling-Wei Zheng

Rock and Soil Mechanics

In order to study the bearing characteristic of static drill rooted energy piles under thermo-mechanical coupling conditions, a self-designed model test system has been used to evaluate the thermal response of the model pile in the clay-sand double-layered foundation. The results show that the temperature of the pile is non-uniformly distributed along the depth, and the radius of thermally affected region around the pile is 3 times of its diameter. Accumulated settlements are observed on the pile top and the surrounding soil surface after 3 heating-cooling cycles. Driven under the load of 25% of the ultimate bearing capacity on top, …

Mechanism Of Foundation Pit Deformation Caused By Dewatering Before Soil Excavation: An Experimental Study, Chao-Feng Zeng, Xiu-Li Xue, Wei-Wei Song, Miao-Kun Li, Ning Bai Feb 2021

Mechanism Of Foundation Pit Deformation Caused By Dewatering Before Soil Excavation: An Experimental Study, Chao-Feng Zeng, Xiu-Li Xue, Wei-Wei Song, Miao-Kun Li, Ning Bai

Rock and Soil Mechanics

The existing research on foundation pit mainly focuses on the deformation caused by soil excavation. It is often believed that the retaining wall deformation would commence after soil excavation. However, some field measurements show that the dewatering conducted before soil excavation might have already induced retaining wall deflection and surrounding ground deformation, which could be at centimeter level. Apparently, the monitoring data excluding deformations caused before excavation will underestimate the environmental effect of the construction work. In order to investigate the mechanism of foundation pit deformation caused by dewatering before excavation, a similarity model test is conducted to simulate the …
