Co-Production Of Hydrogen And Carbon Nanofibers From Methane Decomposition Over Zeolite Y Supported Ni Catalysts Jan 2015

Co-Production Of Hydrogen And Carbon Nanofibers From Methane Decomposition Over Zeolite Y Supported Ni Catalysts

Faculty of Engineering University of Malaya

The objective of this paper is to study the influences of different operating conditions on the hydrogen formation and properties of accumulated carbon from methane decomposition using zeolite Y supported 15% and 30% Ni, respectively, at a temperature range between 500 and 650 degrees C in a pilot scale fixed bed reactor. The temperature ramp was showed a significant impact on the thermo-catalytic decomposition (TCD) of methane. An optimum temperature range of 550-600 degrees C were required to attain the maximum amount of methane conversion and revealed that at 550 and 600 degrees C, catalyst showed longer activity for the …

Contact with Cuban scientists was established in 1986 when two researchers from Centro de Investigaciones para Industria Minero Metalurgica in Havana visited Laval University to get acquainted with research activities in the area of extractive metallurgy. This was followed in early 1987 by two more researchers from the same centre. Invitations were then received in late 1987, 1989, and 2008 to visit the nickel refineries in Cuba and to hold seminars at the University of Havana. The present report outlines these activities.

Batch experiments were performed to model kinetic and thermodynamic data for Cd and Ni biosorption by raw chicken feathers (CFs) under different conditions. Results indicated that Cd and Ni sorption onto CFs occurred on the external surface of the biosorbent. Ion removal increased with pH, whereas both endothermic and exothermic stages where observed depending on temperature. Our calculated thermodynamic parameters showed that, below the temperature of 30°C, the metal uptake of Cd and Ni ions may be mainly controlled by a chemisorption process. However, for temperatures higher than 30°C, it is likely that sorption of both metals onto CFs is …
