This study provides a mixed-methods approach in analyzing a potential closed-loop system between renewable biogas production from anaerobic digestion, vermiculture production, aquaculture production, and organic wastes with a particular focus on stillage wastes. Such system may hold significant promise for significantly reducing organic carbon and methane emissions from its components, and should be assessed for such. The 2021 IPCC report essentially identified methane reduction as the single fastest way to slow global warming (IPCC, 2021), making the study and implementation of methane-reducing systems and supportive policy for them critical. The potency of yam starch (Dioscorea alata) as film-forming material together with the potency of chitosan and clove oil as antibacterial materials has led the authors to produce active bioplastics based on these materials. This research was performed to determine the effect of chitosan and clove oil on the physical, mechanical, and barrier properties of yam starch’s active bioplastics. Improved seed meters that offer very precise seed drop have been available on planters for a number of years. Sprayable biopolymer membranes (SBM) is an emerging mulching alternative to increase horticultural and agricultural productivity by reducing soil erosion and evaporative losses. The SBM is usually applied in liquid form directly to the soil surface where the polymer molecules form a thin biodegradable film. In order to test this technology, an experiment was performed in greenhouse conditions with the goal of quantifying the impact on soil evaporation rate and biomass accumulation in winter wheat.

Soil moisture sensors (SMSs) are a useful tool that aid in data-driven water management decisions. However, default factory calibrations can be inaccurate and soil-specific calibrations are often required to obtain higher accuracy in the determination of soil water storage and plant available water. In this study, we conducted a lab calibration for the Field Scout TDR 300, which is a popular SMS used in the turfgrass industry. Five soils of different soil textural classes were packed in containers with known soil moisture for the laboratory calibration.
