The Evansville Airport has completely updated the terminal area and passenger access to the terminal. A plan is underway to expand the passenger parking area in the future. This presentation will review the past updates and walk through future goals.

South Bend Airport is in the process of a major reconstruction project to realign Taxiway B to provide a Runway Incursion Mitigation (RIM), separate Taxiway B from the Terminal Apron, and make adjustments to the terminal apron to correct drainage. This presentation will focus on the factors impacting the ability of airports to respond to those factors, including climate change, localized flooding, heat waves, and snow events. There are currently more than 572,000 registered pilots in the United States, ranging from commercial UAS pilots to commercial manned aircraft. Although pilots are registered in each of the 50 states, where they live and reside can be seen through various forms of geospatial statistical analysis in a geographic information system. This talk explores spatial patterns of the FAA U.S. Airmen database through hotspot and cluster-based analysis of the database.

The abilities of UAS to gather high-resolution imagery over a given area on a frequent basis are now well-known to those in the construction and excavation industries. Less well known, however, are the ways that UAS data can be used in value-added data analysis. Triplett Creek is a tributary of the Licking River. It runs through Morehead, KY, where we are conducting our research.

The creek was modified in the 1970s but construction was halted before the project was complete. Unfortunately, the result was an increase in overflow and subsequent riverbank erosion. The city installed sediment trap rocks in hopes of slowing down the water and decreasing erosion. We are using drones and photogrammetric software to map the area and compare images of the river to determine erosion rates. A July 2015 report from the Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) states “U.S. airports are long overdue for [a] major structural improvement projects. Most U.S. airports are aging, … and because of budgetary restrictions, they’re not aging well.”(Garcia and Clampet, 2015).
