Aviation Department Publications
Aircraft hydraulic systems are essential non-propulsive power systems. Hydraulic power systems are used to power major functional aircraft systems, such as flight controls (primary and secondary), friction braking, nose gear steering, thrust-reversers, operating heavy cargo doors, etc.
Comparative Rack Level Cfd Analysis Of Air To Hybrid Cooling Data Center, Jay Umeshkumar Parekh
Comparative Rack Level Cfd Analysis Of Air To Hybrid Cooling Data Center, Jay Umeshkumar Parekh
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Theses
The demand of data storage in the world is increasing, with this increase, demand for large data centers is growing. In response, we need to look for energy-efficient solutions to reduce the energy consumptions of the data centers. We want to reduce the energy used for cooling while keeping the data center equipment temperature in allowable range in high power density data center. The liquid or hybrid cooled servers are the alternatives that may be used instead of traditional air-cooled servers at Rack Level for the cooling power - different inlet temperatures and different percentage of hybrid cooling. This will …
Minimum Induced Power For A Helicopter In High-Speed Forward Flight, Junsoo (Sean) Hong
Minimum Induced Power For A Helicopter In High-Speed Forward Flight, Junsoo (Sean) Hong
McKelvey School of Engineering Theses & Dissertations
A dynamic inflow model is used to calculate minimum induced power for a helicopter in high-speed forward flight with infinite and finite number of blades. Comparisons between analytical and numerical results are shown and they show good agreement. Different flow conditions (such as with and without reverse flow or inflow feedback) are used to show how each condition affects optimum induced power. Several results confirm the findings of earlier investigations such as a singularity in rotor power in reverse flow and induced power reduction with increase in blade number. Some of the new findings are that greater inflow feedback (due …

PolySat is a student-run, Cal Poly research program in which students develop small satellites, known as CubeSats, to be sent into space. Since the start of the program in 2000, PolySat has developed eight 10cm x 10cm x10cm CubeSats. Recently, the team has developed two satellites of double, and triple, that size for NASA-KSC & AI-Solutions and the National Science Foundation. The recent volumetric expansion has been driven by high demand for further satellite functionality, which necessitates large power generation capabilities. To remain competitive in the growing CubeSat industry, PolySat must develop a platform that can provide enough power to …
