This paper presents the Trust Level Routing (TLR) pro- tocol, an extension of the optimized energy-delay rout- ing (OEDR) protocol, focusing on the integrity, reliability and survivability of the wireless network. TLR is similar to OEDR in that they both are link state routing proto- cols that run in a proactive mode and adopt the concept of multi-point relay (MPR) nodes. However, TLR aims at incorporating trust levels into routing by frequently changing the MPR nodes as well as authenticating the source node and contents of control packets. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the ability of a dynamic and a quasi-steady state calculation methodology to capture the heating and cooling aspects of a buildings energy performance in the context of the requirements of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). Chapters 1 and 2 provide a general background review and description of the implementation of the directive’s requirements in Ireland. This survey was completed by ITRC on behalf of the California Energy Commission Public Interest Energy Research (PIER) Program. The purpose of the survey was to establish a benchmark for the present status of the pumping systems used by agricultural water districts in California and to determine the districts' needs. The needs discussed involve technical assistance, research grant and low-interest loan funding, and district-related policy issues. Thirty agricultural water districts were selected for the survey. These districts were selected based on energy use per acre of irrigated area, size, geographic location, and distribution infrastructure.

This paper analyses the current energy balance of Portugal, considering the actual sources which are mainly traditional fossil fuels, hydroelectric power and renewables. Other potential sources are discussed also and taken into consideration in view of the previewed evolution of the country in energetic terms. Among these, nuclear power, once regarded as an option, is now being re-considered. This paper also sums up the main issues to be considered in a future debate on the subject.

The issue being examined is to design a more economical and efficient therefore superior geothermal system than currently in use in industry. Current geothermal systems are designed and built 300 feet into the ground. After researching ground temperature gradients for Ohio we found out that below 10 feet of depth, the temperature varies by 1 degree Fahrenheit per 100 feet depth. Our goal is to utilize the heat as close to the surface as possible and greatly reduce the need to dig so deeply into the ground. This paper presents the results of a detailed CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis of the performance of blade cascades in reversing flow axial flow turbines for use as power take-off systems in Oscillating Water Column (OWC) Wave Energy Conversion (WEC) systems. In the first part of the paper a fundamental CFD analysis of the lift and drag data for various aerofoil profiles, using a number of different turbulence models, is described and quantitative comparisons are made with experimental data previously published by other researchers. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of the new regulations design changes on heating loads of apartment buildings and identify the construction configurations (e.g. glazing types, thermal properties, window area ratio, etc.) of the new designs that will ensure the energy performance is at least on the same level as those with a traditional balcony configuration.
