Radiolabeled Nanohydroxyapatite As A Platform For The Development Of New Pet Imaging Agents, Stacy Lee Queern

Arts & Sciences Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging utilizes drugs labeled with positron emitters to target and evaluate different biological processes occurring in the body. Tailoring medicine to the individual allows for higher quality of care with better diagnosis and treatment and is a key purpose for advancing research into developing new platforms for PET imaging agents. A PET nuclide of high interest for the development of these agents is 89Zr. This can be attributed to the long half-life of 3.27 days and low positron energy of 89Zr.

In this work, we developed a production method for 89Zr using Y sputtered coins that …

A physical mechanism of electron beam excitation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) on the circular cylindrical structure and transformation into coherent radiation is proposed. Here SPPs on the circular cylindrical structures are excited by a cyclotron electron beam (CEB) rather than by the linearly moving electron beam (LEB). This change leads to an essential consequence due to the natural periodicity of 2π in structure and CEB, and this dual natural periodicity makes the SPPs transformation possible and brings significant excellences. HEM hybrid modes and TM0n modes SPPs can be excited and propagate along a cyclotron trajectory together with the CEB …

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers

Terahertz (THz) radiation can revolutionize modern science and technology. To this date, it remains big challenges to develop intense, coherent and tunable THz radiation sources that can cover the whole THz frequency region either by means of only electronics (both vacuum electronics and semiconductor electronics) or of only photonics (lasers, for example, quantum cascade laser). Here we present a mechanism which can overcome these difficulties in THz radiation generation. Due to the natural periodicity of 2π of both the circular cylindrical graphene structure and cyclotron electron beam (CEB), the surface plasmon polaritions (SPPs) dispersion can cross the light line of …

Solid Target System For Use On An 11 Mev Cyclotron, Andrew Carl Williamson Dec 2010

Solid Target System For Use On An 11 Mev Cyclotron, Andrew Carl Williamson

Masters Theses

Molecular imaging is becoming an important contributor to the development of personalized medicine. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a technology that enables molecular imaging by allowing a physician to detect and map the location of various physiological processes. The purpose of this work is to design, fabricate and test a mechanism that would make the production of the PET isotope, copper-64 practical for both researchers and commercial suppliers. In order to have the maximum usefulness, the design needs to fit and operate within several constraints. A one dimensional thermal analysis indicated that operation of the system under existing cooling conditions …

Far-Infrared Measurements Of Cyclotron Resonance And Impurity Transitions In Bulk N-Gaas In Pulsed Magnetic Fields, R A. Lewis, R J. Heron, R G. Clark, R P. Starrett, A V. Skougarevsky

The photoconductive response of n-GaAs has been measured under laser radiation in the wavelength range 71 to 513 /spl mu/m at temperatures as low as 400 mK and at magnetic fields as high as 42 T. A rich variety of spectral features are observed: cyclotron resonance, transitions associated with D/sup -/, and transitions to stable and metastable hydrogenic states. The use of a pulsed magnet has extended the magnetic field range over which data is available by a factor of three.
