Power Quality Control And Common-Mode Noise Mitigation For Inverters In Electric Vehicles, Yang Huang Aug 2022

Power Quality Control And Common-Mode Noise Mitigation For Inverters In Electric Vehicles, Yang Huang

Doctoral Dissertations

Inverters are widely utilized in electric vehicle (EV) applications as a major voltage/current source for onboard battery chargers (OBC) and motor drive systems. The inverter performance is critical to the efficiency of EV system energy conversion and electronics system electro-magnetic interference (EMI) design. However, for AC systems, the bandwidth requirement is usually low compared with DC systems, and the control impact on the inverter differential-mode (DM) and common-mode (CM) performance are not well investigated. With the wide-band gap (WBG) device era, the switching capability of power electronics devices drastically improved. The DM/CM impact that was brought by the WBG device-based …

Analysis And Optimization Of The Two-Phase Series Capacitor Buck Dc-Dc Converter, Salahaldein Ali Aboajila Ahmed May 2022

Analysis And Optimization Of The Two-Phase Series Capacitor Buck Dc-Dc Converter, Salahaldein Ali Aboajila Ahmed

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Current sharing schemes for conventional multi-phase converters are based on sensing each phase current to deliver the current information to their controllers. In conventional buck converters, this fact may require a preset current sharing ratio at the expense of efficiency, which eventually requires a larger sensing circuit to achieve the sensing accuracy of each phase. Introducing the concept of automatic current sharing is one of the solutions to tackle this issue. Automatic current sharing (Current Sharing Mechanism CSM) is an advanced way to distribute heat generation in multi-phase switching topologies at full load. A two-phase series capacitor buck converter (2-pscB) …

Verification And Validation Of Power Converters For Use In Future Power System Architectures, Alexander Johnston May 2022

Verification And Validation Of Power Converters For Use In Future Power System Architectures, Alexander Johnston

Electrical Engineering Dissertations

Electronics are more widely penetrating almost every area of society and as they do, the demand to supply them with regulated power increases considerably. The scale of the electronic power distribution systems needed ranges from those in very small handheld consumer electronic devices all the way up to those needed in large buildings, ships, and cities. The energy supplied within these power distribution systems can come from many different generation sources that operate either individually or simultaneously. When power electronics are controlled properly, simultaneous generation sources can be employed in a way that optimizes them according to the user’s desired …

Reactive Power Sharing And Voltage Restoration In Islanded Ac Microgrids, Khurram Hashmi, Rizwan Ali, Muhammad Hanan, Waseem Aslam, Abubakar Siddique, Muhammad Mansoor Khan Mar 2022

Reactive Power Sharing And Voltage Restoration In Islanded Ac Microgrids, Khurram Hashmi, Rizwan Ali, Muhammad Hanan, Waseem Aslam, Abubakar Siddique, Muhammad Mansoor Khan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Microgrids (MG) are a new and innovative concept in modern distribution networks. Several challenges are associated with the operation and control of MG networks. Active and reactive power sharing among energy resources interfaced through power electronic conversion stages is a major challenge. Although active power sharing can be achieved under varying scenarios, sharing of reactive power between distributed generation units is difficult to achieve. This paper presents a novel and innovative control scheme to ensure sharing of reactive power between Distributed generation units within an autonomous, islanded AC microgrid. A framework composed of novel multiagent moving average estimators is proposed …
