Penerangan jalan umum (PJU) digunakan untuk menerangi jalan, sehingga pengguna jalan mendukung kenyamanan dan keselamatan dimalam hari. Terdapat keterbatasan sistem pemeriksaan dan pelaporan kerusakaan lampu PJU. Artikel ini membahas penerapan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT) untuk memantau gangguan kerusakan pada lampu PJU. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengembangan sistem pemantauan tersebut yaitu, kajian literatur, analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, pembuatan dan pengujian. Sistem ini dilengkapi dengan sensor ZMPT101B, ACS 712, dan Modul WiFi ESP 8266-01. The use of Internet-connected devices at homes has increased to monitor energy consumption. Furthermore, renewable energy sources have also increased, reducing electricity bills. However, the high cost of the equipment limits the use of these technologies. This paper presents a low-cost secured-distributed Internet of Things (IoT) system to monitor and control devices connected in a polygeneration microgrid, as a combined power system for local loads with renewable sources. A wireless imaging system for monitoring strawberry fields provides enough quality image data for computer vision algorithms to make meaningful yield predictions. This report contains a design for a wireless sensor network modified with mesh networking techniques to extend coverage range and a solar energy harvesting system to improve sensor node lifetime. A two hop system with six nodes is implemented in a laboratory environment validating the communication systems integrity over an 800’ range. Moving from a primary battery system to solar energy harvesting increases the module lifetime indefinitely.

In this dissertation, we introduce several novel privacy-aware security applications. We split these contributions into three main categories: First, to strengthen the current authentication mechanisms, we designed two novel privacy-aware alternative complementary authentication mechanisms, Continuous Authentication (CA) and Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). Our first system is Wearable-assisted Continuous Authentication (WACA), where we used the sensor data collected from a wrist-worn device to authenticate users continuously. Then, we improved WACA by integrating a noise-tolerant template matching technique called NTT-Sec to make it privacy-aware as the collected data can be sensitive. A high volume of content streaming/downloading services during peak hours can cause network congestion. Proactive content caching has emerged as a prospective solution to tackle this congestion problem.
