In this article, we present a genetic algorithm (GA) as one branch of artificial intelligence (AI) for the optimization-design of the artificial magnetic metamaterial whose structure is automatically generated by computer through the filling element methodology. A representative design example, metamaterials with permeability of negative unity, is investigated and the optimized structures found by the GA are presented. It is also demonstrated that our approach is effective for the synthesis of functional magnetic and electric metamaterials with optimal structures. This GA-based optimization-design technique shows great versatility and applicability in the design of functional metamaterials.

The first step in the planning of the electrical supply networks consists in defining the optimum placement of one or more power stations; this can be done by the centre of gravity method, or by the minimal reduced costs. The first method take in account only the optimisation of investments, tended that the second in addition to the investments holds operating statement "production cost, cooling and transport." In this study, we show also the strategy and the criteria of delimitation of the zones to electrify by the same departure and to reduce the transfer of power between zones, which has …

A hybrid Artificial Neural Network - Genetic Algorithm (ANN-GA) was developed to model, simulate and optimize the catalytic-dielectric barrier discharge plasma reactor. Effects of CH4/CO2 feed ratio, total feed flow rate, discharge voltage and reactor wall temperature on the performance of the reactor was investigated by the ANN-based model simulation. Pareto optimal solutions and the corresponding optimal operating parameter range based on multi-objectives can be suggested for two cases, i.e. simultaneous maximization of CH4 conversion and C2+ selectivity (Case 1), and H2 selectivity and H2/CO ratio (Case 2). It can be concluded that the hybrid catalytic-dielectric barrier discharge plasma reactor …

Optimisation Des Régimes De Fonctionnement D'Un Moteur Asynchrone À Cage Entrainant Une Charge Variable, Malika Louanchi

A Method Of Minimizing The Power Losses In An Induction Motor With A Squirrel-Cage With Vector Control, Boukhemis Chetate, Aissa Kheldoun

An approach to optimizing the flux linkage of the rotor of an induction motor is considered when the motor operates in a vector control mode with indirect orientation in the direction of the field. In this system, the expression for the frequency of the rotor e.m.f. contains the rotor winding impedance; this impedance must therefore be precisely estimated in real time. It is proposed that this should be done using a fuzzy-logic adaptation mechanism. The results of using such a mechanism in a physical model confirm its effectiveness. Key words: induction motor, rotor, vector control, fuzzy logic.

In the 1950's, the idea of simulate the workings of natural evolution in an engineering setting gave birth to the domain of evolutionary computation, a powerful approach to optimization and non-deterministic problem solving. Now, some researchers are beggining to create hardware that can grow and improve itself over time, evolving steadily as it finds new and better ways to do the tasks it has set before it. The field, known as Evolvable Hardware, is a recent focus of a growing endeavour to build this kind of autonomous, adaptive, and fault-tolerant electronic systems. This paper motivates current research on Evolvable Hardware …
