Frequently, difficulties are encountered with mineral pulps in a mineral-processing plant, which are not alleviated or minimized by the application of such simple measures as varying fineness of grind of solid material, changing pulp density, or altering equipment operation (within practical limits). The basis of the difficulty in such a situation may be found in the very nature of the pulp-- its flow characteristics and behavior. Recognition of the problem followed by one-point viscometric measurement to determine fluidity can lead an operator to erroneous conclusions.
