Performance Of Self-Compacting Concrete, Mohamed Samir Rushdy Jun 2004

Performance Of Self-Compacting Concrete, Mohamed Samir Rushdy

Archived Theses and Dissertations

Concrete compaction is one of the indispensable fundamentals of concrete manufacturing. However, thorough compaction cannot always be insured. This can be wholly or partially encountered in congested sections, out-of reach deep foundations and narrow or irregular precast components. On the other hand, typical vibrators were considered as contributor to health hazards to workers. Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is an emerging concrete where the cohesive yet flowable consistency of the concrete itself secures adequate placement with high level of homogeneity and little or no segregation. Such concrete is primarily achieved by incorporating admixtures that is referred to as viscosity modifying (VM) admixtures …

Influence Of Friction Stir Welding On The Microstructural Evolution, Mechanical Properties And Superplastic Behavior Of Al-Cu-Li Alloy (Aa 2095), Moataz Attallah Jun 2004

Influence Of Friction Stir Welding On The Microstructural Evolution, Mechanical Properties And Superplastic Behavior Of Al-Cu-Li Alloy (Aa 2095), Moataz Attallah

Archived Theses and Dissertations

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a new solid state welding technique which is characterized by its ability to join the difficult-to-weld alloys, notably aluminum alloys. Microstructural studies revealed that FSW produces fine grain structure within the weld nugget due to the extensive plastic deformation and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) associated with it. Further studies hypothetically suggested that thermo-mechanical processing using friction stir can be used as a technique to create ultra-fine grain structure for superplastic forming (SPF). Yet, a more practical and economic suggestion indicated the suitability of combining FSW with SPF technologies in a way similar to the existing combination …

Analysis Of The Cup Drawing Process And Optimization Of The Blank Holder Force, Hossam Gharib Jun 2004

Analysis Of The Cup Drawing Process And Optimization Of The Blank Holder Force, Hossam Gharib

Archived Theses and Dissertations

The process of deep drawing of a cylindrical cup is analyzed and optimized for the minimum punch force. An analytical model is developed for the cup drawing process by determining the variation of stresses and strains over the deforming sheet at any stage of deformation until a full cup is formed. The model uses finite difference approach and numerical analysis to solve for equilibrium, continuity, and plasticity equations. Then, optimization of the blank holder force (BHF) is carried out using the developed analytical model. Optimization is carried out using genetic algorithms to determine the optimum linear BHF scheme that minimizes …

A Step Towards A Well Engineered Component Based Extensible Operating System, Mohamed Fathey Abdel Fattah

Archived Theses and Dissertations

Operating systems are the first developed piece of software for a computer and it is still the first application to run over our computers. Software developers spent a lot of time and efforts to build reliable systems using different philosophies and software engineering strategies. They built monolithic kernels, micro-kernels, pico-kernels, etc. to fulfill users' requirements and hardware developments as well. However, Most of the proposed solutions for operating systems design and implementation are for solving traditional problems. Operating systems are still constructed as a general piece of software used for either machine's resource management or as a virtual machine for …

Evaluation Of Fire Resistance Of Plastering Applied To Reinforced Concrete, Engy M Samy Serag Feb 2004

Evaluation Of Fire Resistance Of Plastering Applied To Reinforced Concrete, Engy M Samy Serag

Archived Theses and Dissertations

Concrete is one of the most resistant construction materials to heat and fire. It is known to retain heat for a relatively long time, thus limiting crack propagation from penetrating deeply. Furthermore, it can be repaired if exposed to fire for a limited time. However it loses its strength dramatically when exposed to elevated temperatures for long duration. With the increase in the use of concrete in structures, a demand arises to assess the fire resistance of concrete structural members and to develop means of improving the fire characteristics of these elements. One of the methods to increase the fire …

Neural Networks For Estimating The Productivity Of Brick Works And Plastering Works In Egypt, Mohamed Aly Masoud

Archived Theses and Dissertations

Neural networks have proven apparent success in solving a wide variety of problems. Various engineering applications in particular were studied using these powerful tools.

The Neural network resembles the function of the human brain. A training

process has to be applied first in order that the network acquires knowledge through learning. Then the network can generalize predicted solutions based on the a mount and accuracy of the training data. The target of this research is to develop two neural networks that can predict the productivity of two common construction-finishing activities, which are brick and plaster works. In order to adequately …

Performance Evaluation Of Auc Backbone Network Using Simulation And Monitoring Tools, Nabawia Khalil Abdel-Karim Feb 2004

Performance Evaluation Of Auc Backbone Network Using Simulation And Monitoring Tools, Nabawia Khalil Abdel-Karim

Archived Theses and Dissertations

Networks in the past were defined by the traffic they carried. The network management systems that can track performance statistics, alarms and diagnostics are usually called operations support systems. As number of applications carried over a network grew, networks cannot scale economically. They become large, complex and expensive. Network performance became an important issue to network designers, operators and implementers to design, implement and maintain scalable, reliable and resilient networks. In this research, we developed a comparative analysis for two tools commonly utilized to aid network operations support to arrive at decisions related to network scalability, performance evaluation and renewal. …

Ip Traceback Of Denial Of Service Attacks Using Mobile Agents Technology, Ghada Magdi Hashem El-Keissi

Archived Theses and Dissertations

Denial of Service (DoS) attack is considered a critical threat to networks. A DoS is a destructive attack aiming at denying services to legitimate users. An attacker could create an attack that floods a network, disrupts a connection between two computers, or even crashes a computer. Accordingly, legitimate users will not be able to have access to services needed. DoS attacks could originate from a single attacker or it could originate from multiple attackers creating Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks towards a target victim. One of the main problems ofDoS attacks is the ability of an attacker to forge …
