This paper described a novel design of a hybrid fuel cell and energy storage system using high temperature superconducting energy storage system (HT-SMES) or batteries to meet fast changing load. The power electronic switches in the converter of the energy storage system are controlled in such a way that the amplitude and waveform of the inverter output current from the fuel cell is tightly regulated to follow a sinusoidal reference waveform. The effect of LiBH4 on the hydrogen sorption performance of magnesium was investigated. It was found that the hydrogen storage properties of LiBH4/Mg mixtures exhibit a dramatic improvement as compared to plain magnesium powder. For example, at 250°C, a LiBH4/Mg (mass ratio 1:4) composite can absorb 6.7 wt % hydrogen in 60 min, while only less than 1 wt % hydrogen was absorbed by pure magnesium in the same period under similar conditions. Penetration of wind power into electricity system is constantly increasing. Wind resources are usually distant from existing transmission lines. Wind farms are often connected to weak grids far from central generation stations. Maximum wind power extraction causes the more irregular and unpredicted power output of wind turbine, which has same nature as wind speed variation. The voltage in such long line is vulnerable with the consumption and generation imbalance. Experimental Investigation Into Segregation Of Bulk Solids During Gravity Filling Of Storage Bins, David B. Hastie, Peter W. Wypych

This paper explains the phenomenon of segregation and previous methods used in its quantification. Also explained is the current research, which has attempted to develop a two dimensional sampling technique to quantify the degree of mixing present under gravity fill conditions. Binary mixtures have been prepared in varying proportions and charged into a test rig where sampling has taken place and the results analysed. From these results, a relationship between degree of mixing and product proportion has been developed.
