Direct Electrochemistry Of Chloroperoxidase At Gc Electrode Modified With Swnts, Hong-Xia Zhang, Xia-Qin Wu, Wen-Jing Hou, Wen Xie, Zhong-Qing Lu, Rong Wang, He-Xing Li

Journal of Electrochemistry

The chloroperoxidase(CPO) was immobilized onto the surface of SWNTs modified electrodes. The electrochemical behaviors of modified electrode have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The appearance of a pair of well-defined redox peaks in the CV curve indicated that SWNTs can promote the electron transfer reaction of CPO.The results of cyclic voltammetry in PBS of different pH,from 3~9,showed that the reaction of CPO on the modified electrode was with equal numbers of electron and protein. This readily prepared SWNTs modified electrode showed excellent stability and good catalysis to O2.

Study On Electrocatalytic Oxidation Of Salbutamol At Carbon Nanotubes Modified Electrode, Ying-Liang Wei, Lu-Ping Zhang, Chen Shao, Hui Feng, Xian-Li Li

Journal of Electrochemistry

The multi-wall carbon nanotubes(MWNT) were dispersed successfully into water in the presence of dihexadecyl hydrogen phosphate(DHP) and a stable well-distributed suspension.A was formed sensor based on the multi-carbon nanotubes film coated glassy carbon electrode was developed. The electrochemical response of salbutamol was studied by square wave voltammetry. The oxidation peak potential of salbutamol at the modified electrode was observed at 0.604 V,which shifted about 40 mV negatively. The peak current increased 4.5 folds,in contrast to that at a bare electrode.Under optimal measurement conditions, there was a good linear relationship between the peak current(Ipa) and salbutamol concentration(C) in the range from 8.3 × 1 0-7~ …

Aquatic Bacteria Removal Using Carbon Nanotubes, Suvish Melanta May 2008

Aquatic Bacteria Removal Using Carbon Nanotubes, Suvish Melanta

Biological and Agricultural Engineering Undergraduate Honors Theses

The purpose of this project is to explore the functionality of carbon nanotubes as a bacterial removal method, specifically towards water-borne bacterial pathogens in wastewater by utilizing its unique magnetic and bacteria-binding properties. The general protocol set for this research follows five steps: 1) Preparation of wastewater media, 2) preparation of CNT culture, 3) preparation of reaction mixture with CNTs for bacterial binding, 4) magnetic separation of bacteria-bound-CNT clusters and, 5) assessment of supernatant. The CNTs effectively removed bacterial contaminants in the wastewater (10%, v/v) after the sand filtration process from the Paul R. Noland Wastewater Facility at Fayetteville, Arkansas. …

Preparation And Lithium Storage Performance Of Nano-Structural Sno_2/Carbon Nanotubes Composite Electrodes, Hong-Bing Wei, Ling Huang, Xiao-Bin Wu, Fu-Sheng Ke, Jin-Shu Cai, Xiao-Yong Fan, Fang-Zu Yang, Shi-Gang Sun

Journal of Electrochemistry

The Nano-structural SnO2/Carbon Nanotubes Composites were prepared in a solution of SnCl2,ethylene glycol(EG),purified MWCNTs and sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) at 160 ℃.The phase structure and surface morphology of the composites were measured by XRD HRTEM and SEM.The results indicate that there are high dispersions and high loadings of SnO2 nanoparticles on MWCNTs.Electrochemical lithium storage performance was studied preliminarily on the obtained samples.MWCNTs modified with SnO2 nanoparicles were shown to have a higher electrochemical reversible capacity than that of MWCNTs during the charge and discharge process.MWCNTs can accommodate the larger structure strain of the active materials produced during Li-ion insertion and extraction, which …

Investigation On The Resistance To Electrochemical Oxidation Of Carbon Nanotubes With Various Diameters, Yu-Yan Shao, Ge-Ping Yin, Yun-Zhi Gao, Peng-Fei Shi

Journal of Electrochemistry

The resistance to electrochemical oxidation of multi-wall carbon nanotubes(CNT) with various diameters is investigated by applying a fixed potential of 1.2 V(RHE) for 120 h in 0.5 mol L~(-1) H_(2)SO_(4).The oxidation current of CNTs decreases with their diameters, but CNTs between 10~20 nm in diameter(D1020) shows the lowest oxidation current.XPS analysis shows that, after oxidation, the increase in surface oxygen for D1020 is the smallest, implying that the oxidation degree for D1020 is the lowest. The conclusion can be reached that CNTs between 10~20 nm in diameter are the most resistant to electrochemical oxidation. The difference in electrochemical stability of CNTs is attributed to the difference …

The Fabrication And Electrochemical Studies On Carbon Nanotube Array Electrodes, Quan-Yong Gao, Jing Zhang, Yangyong Yangyong Feb 2005

The Fabrication And Electrochemical Studies On Carbon Nanotube Array Electrodes, Quan-Yong Gao, Jing Zhang, Yangyong Yangyong

Journal of Electrochemistry

An improved technique for fabrication of carbon nanotube array electrodes has been proposed in this work. Firstly, carbon nanotubes (CNs) array electrodes were prepared by combsination of Chemical Vapor Decomposition (CVD) method and sputtering techniques in anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane. The CNs/AAO was immersed into HF solution to remove the barrier layer. Controlling the immersing time, the CNs array electrodes with different length contacted with electrolyte can be prepared. The morphology of CNs array electrodes was observed by SEM. The electrochemical properties of CNs array electrodes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammetric curves of …

Field Emission Based Sensors Using Carbon Nanotubes, Changkun Dong Apr 2003

Field Emission Based Sensors Using Carbon Nanotubes, Changkun Dong

Physics Theses & Dissertations

A number of sensitive applications would be greatly benefited by the development of better cold cathodes that employ the electron field emission process. Among the many kinds of field emitters that could be tried, carbon nanotubes (CNT) have a number of distinct advantages because of their unique geometrical structure, chemical inertness, mechanical stiffness, and high thermal and electrical conductivities. This dissertation describes research in which CNT cathodes were fabricated and their emission characteristics were measured.

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) were grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on various substrates: Ni and Hastelloy gauze, 304 stainless steel (SS) plates, and Ni-coated …
