Stability And Minimum Cost Analysis Of A Discrete-Time Disturbance Accommodation Controller, Katrina H. Barhouse
Stability And Minimum Cost Analysis Of A Discrete-Time Disturbance Accommodation Controller, Katrina H. Barhouse
Master's Theses (2009 -)
Disturbance accommodation control (DAC) is a method for designing a controller that minimizes the effects of disturbances of known waveform type, but with unknown arrival time, duration or magnitude. Systems that do not have a control term in the measurement equation pose a particular challenge for DAC design. A disturbance accommodation controller for these types of systems was previously developed by defining a pseudo-output consisting of the current output and previous control input terms with weighting coefficients.
The objective of the present work is to analyze the stability and performance of the discrete- time disturbance accommodation controller for systems without …
Fitting Model Parameters To Patient Data Automatically Through Evolutionary Computation, Michael Wesley Sagan
Fitting Model Parameters To Patient Data Automatically Through Evolutionary Computation, Michael Wesley Sagan
Master's Theses (2009 -)
The Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Engineering Center (O.R.E.C) has been studying two conditions which can wreak havoc on the human body's balance control system. The conditions being studied are cerebral palsy (CP) and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS)[1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]. A greater understanding of postural deficits in children with these conditions and the causes for these conditions may help researchers achieve better interventions and treatments [3]. A tool used to characterize postural stability is a bi-planar postural stability model. This model is designed where 10 parameter values have to be adjusted until the simulated data is statistically the same …

Biomedical Engineering
This report outlines the design and building process for an interchangeable testing device that collects aircraft performance data. Included is the project objectives, system requirements, management plan, design concept development, design details, manufacturing procedures, and project verification test plans. The device is a wing-mounted Pitot-static system integrated with an Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS).
A Novel Storage Area Network (San) Extension Solution Over Passive Optical Networks (Pons), Si Yin
A Novel Storage Area Network (San) Extension Solution Over Passive Optical Networks (Pons), Si Yin
Dissertations
After 9/11 and the 2003 power grid failure in North America, storage area network (SAN) extension has emerged as a critical option to ensure business continuity. However, SAN extension encounters challenges in the access network including the scalability, cost, bandwidth bottleneck, and throughput. In this dissertation, a new solution, SAN extension over passive optical networks (S-PONs), has been proposed to address the above problems. PONs are the mainstream wireline technology for upgrading the megabit-level access solutions (such as xDSL and Cable Modem) into gigabit-level broadband access. To tackle the scalability problem and cost challenge, the S-PON architecture has been designed …
On Active Disturbance Rejection Control;Stability Analysis And Applications In Disturbance Decoupling Control, Qing Zheng
ETD Archive
One main contribution of this dissertation is to analyze the stability characteristics of extended state observer (ESO) and active disturbance rejection control (ADRC). In particular, asymptotic stability of the dynamic system that describes the estimation error and the closed-loop system is established where the plant dynamics is completely known. In the face of large dynamic uncertainties, the estimation error, the closed-loop tracking error, and its up to the (n-1)st order derivatives are shown to be bounded. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the error upper bounds, in general, monotonously decrease with the observer and control loop bandwidths. The second contribution is …
Multiple Model Adaptive Estimation And Control Redistribution Performance On The Vista F-16 During Partial Actuator Impairments, Curtis S. Clark
Multiple Model Adaptive Estimation And Control Redistribution Performance On The Vista F-16 During Partial Actuator Impairments, Curtis S. Clark
Theses and Dissertations
Multiple Model Adaptive Estimation with Control Reconfiguration (MMAE/CR) capability to estimate and compensate for partial actuator failures, or "impairments" is investigated using the high-fidelity, nonlinear, six-degree-of-freedom, VISTA F-16 simulation which currently resides on the Simulation Rapid-Prototyping Facility (SRF). After developing a model for inserting partial actuator impairments into the VISTA F-16 truth model, research begins with a battery of single actuator impairment tests. This stage of research explores the capability of the existing MMAE algorithm to estimate single, partial actuator impairments, and helps to define refinements and expansions needed in the MMAE algorithm for the second phase of research: the …
Reduction Of Acoustic Feedback Oscillations By Use Of Spectrum Shifting, Youssef Abdelilah
Reduction Of Acoustic Feedback Oscillations By Use Of Spectrum Shifting, Youssef Abdelilah
Theses
The problem of whistling noise or self-oscillation in public address systems operating in closed halls or rooms can be very disturbing to the listeners. This noise is sustained when the positive acoustic feedback, of the public address-room system, meets the oscillation criteria. This feedback system results from the acoustic sound signal reflected off the room walls and any other obstacles in the room, originating from the public address speakers and then re-entering the microphone.
When all of the audio signal components entering the public address system are shifted by a frequency increment Δf of 6 Hz, an increase of 5 …
