A Generalized Neuron Based Adaptive Power System Stabilizer For Multimachine Environment, D. K. Chaturvedi, O. P. Malik Feb 2005

A Generalized Neuron Based Adaptive Power System Stabilizer For Multimachine Environment, D. K. Chaturvedi, O. P. Malik

D. K. Chaturvedi Dr.

Artificial neural networks can be used as intelligent controllers to control nonlinear, dynamic systems through learning, which can easily accommodate the nonlinearities and time dependencies. Taking advantage of the characteristics of a generalized neuron (GN), that requires much smaller training data and shorter training time, a GN-based adaptive power system stabilizer (GNAPSS) is proposed. It consists of a GN as an identifier, which predicts the plant dynamics one step ahead, and a GN as a controller to damp low frequency oscillations. Results of studies with a GN-based PSS on a five-machine power system show that it can provide good damping …

Catv Modulator Return Loss Effects On Headend Combining Isolation, Ron D. Katznelson Jan 2005

Catv Modulator Return Loss Effects On Headend Combining Isolation, Ron D. Katznelson

Ron D. Katznelson

This note addresses the impact of broadband return loss of frequency agile modulators when combined through headend combining networks. In particular, the effect of less-than-ideal output return loss values are examined and it is shown that even under the worst case conditions, a broadband return loss of 10 dB produces only small reductions in isolation that still permit cable operators to meet their headend combining specifications.

Robust Stability Analysis Of Large Power Systems Using The Structured Singular Value Theory, R. Castellanos, A. R. Messina, H. Sarmiento Jan 2005

Robust Stability Analysis Of Large Power Systems Using The Structured Singular Value Theory, R. Castellanos, A. R. Messina, H. Sarmiento

A. R. Messina

This paper examines the application of structured singular value (SSV) theory to analyse robust stability of complex power systems with respect to a set of structured uncertainties. Based on SSV theory and the frequency sweep method, techniques for robust analysis of largescale power systems are developed. The main interest is focused on determining robust stability for varying operating conditions and uncertainties in the structure of the power system. The applicability of the proposed techniques is verified through simulation studies on a large-scale power system. In particular, results for the system are considered for a wide range of uncertainties of operating …

Paramètres Capacitifs Et Surtensions Dans L’Enroulement D’Un Moteur Asynchrone, Alimenté Par Un Convertisseur Mli, M.T. Belassel, Victor Bespalov, Boukhemis Chetate

On-Chip Implementation Of Cascaded Integrated Comb Filters (Cic) For Dsp Application, Rozita Teymourzadeh, Masuri Othman Dec 2004

On-Chip Implementation Of Cascaded Integrated Comb Filters (Cic) For Dsp Application, Rozita Teymourzadeh, Masuri Othman

Dr. Rozita Teymourzadeh, CEng.

This paper presents the design of a CIC filters based on a low-pass filter for reducing the sampling rate, also known as decimation process. The targeted application for the filter is in the analog to digital conversion (ADC).The CIC is chosen because of its attractive property of both low power and complexity since it dose not required multipliers. Simulink toolbox available in Matlab software is used to design and simulate the functionality of the CIC filter. This paper also shows how sample frequency is decreased by CIC filter and it can be used to give enough stop-band attenuation to prevent …
