Development Of An Intelligent Controller For Robot-Aided Assessment Andtreatment Guidance In Physical Medicine And Rehabilitation, Mehmet Emi̇n Aktan, Erhan Akdoğan
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
In this study, an intelligent controller was developed for a rehabilitation robot called DIAGNOBOT, which can be used for assessment and treatment in the rehabilitation of wrist and forearm. The controller has a decision support system structure strengthened with conventional statistical methods and databases. The controller uses the patient's biomechanical parameters to make an assessment and proposes a treatment in line with this. In accordance with the recommended treatment, it produces the control parameters, torque, and position information for the control of the rehabilitation robot. The system's ability of assessment and treatment was tested with voluntary patients. Through these test …

The Simulation Assessment Of Availability For K/N Redundancy System Considering Failure Relevance Of Components, Haidong Du, Junhai Cao, Fusheng Liu, Xu Dan
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: For the limitations existing in the system availability assessment based on the failure independent hypothesis, the availability assessment model for k/N system based on Copula function theory is built.A reliability evaluation method of fault-related system on the foundation of Agent technique is proposed. The completion of the simulation model from component entity to equipment entity resolves the question of reliability assessment existing in k/N system considering the effects of components relevance. And last, the evaluation results of system availability under different spare parts schemes are given under different material support program, the research results show that the relevance existing …
Evaluation Method Of Imminent Battle Situation In Air Combat, Huimin Cao, Anxiang Huang, Lei Xiang
Evaluation Method Of Imminent Battle Situation In Air Combat, Huimin Cao, Anxiang Huang, Lei Xiang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In the state of air combat, the situation change rapidly. Quick and accurate assessment of the current situation and making decisions is the key to the victory of air combat and the preservation of own strength. Based on the specialty of the modern air battle and pelagic operation, this article adds the political factor, the pilot individual actual combat ability, and the formation cooperative tactical task to fight against the single constraint into the evaluation index system. This makes the evaluation more reasonable and comprehensive and closer to the actual combat, so as to provide more accurate basis for …
Simulation Assessment Of Degradation System Reliability Under Imperfect Maintenance, Haidong Du, Junhai Cao, Shen Ying, Shangru Teng
Simulation Assessment Of Degradation System Reliability Under Imperfect Maintenance, Haidong Du, Junhai Cao, Shen Ying, Shangru Teng
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: For the state change characteristic of degradation system under imperfect maintenance, the common analysis method becomes useless. A simulation method for repairable system is presented. A change rule of system reliability was analyzed and a reliability assessment model was built on the foundation of components degradation process. A simulation tactics based on variable structure modeling was given which is realized through Agent technique. A maintenance optimization example was given for the determination of maintenance opportunity which is used to support the formulation and improvement of maintenance support program for repairable system.
Automated Optical Mark Recognition Scoring System For Multiple-Choice Questions, Murtadha Alomran
Automated Optical Mark Recognition Scoring System For Multiple-Choice Questions, Murtadha Alomran
Theses: Doctorates and Masters
Multiple-choice questions are one of the questions commonly used in assessments. It is widely used because this type of examination can be an effective and reliable way to examine the level of student’s knowledge. So far, this type of examination can either be marked by hand or with specialised answer sheets and scanning equipment. There are specialised answer sheets and scanning equipment to mark multiple-choice questions automatically. However, these are expensive, specialised and restrictive answer sheets and optical mark recognition scanners.
This research aims to design and implement a multiple-choice answer sheet and a reliable image processing-based scoring system that …
Upper Limb Rehabilitation Robot For Physical Therapy: Design, Control, And Testing, Erhan Akdoğan
Upper Limb Rehabilitation Robot For Physical Therapy: Design, Control, And Testing, Erhan Akdoğan
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
In recent years, the treatment process of patients and disabled people who need rehabilitation and physical medicine has become more effective with the use of new devices and developing technology. The rehabilitation robot is one of the most important developments in new technology. The right therapeutic exercises and the objectivity of the evaluation of the range of motion (ROM; generated torque and muscular activation measurement of the patient) are extremely important factors during treatment. In this study, a lower limb rehabilitation robot was modified and controlled for upper limbs. The retrofitted robot system is able to do passive, active, and …

New educational pedagogies are emerging in an effort to increase the number of new engineers available to enter the workforce in the coming years. One of the re-occurring themes in these pedagogies is variations of the flipped classroom. Often the additional classroom time gained from flipping is used to reinforce learning objectives. It is hypothesized that it might be more beneficial to students if a portion of that time is used to address common non-cognitive barriers that prevent students from succeeding in the major. In a freshman Introductory Computer Science course, three different pedagogies are compared: a hybrid lecture-active learning …

The quality of models produced by visible light 3D scanners is influenced by multiple factors. To max-imize model accuracy and detail levels, the correct combination of lighting texture, subject posture and software usage must be selected. The work described herein has been performed to measure the effect of different lighting and envi-ronmental conditions on human 3D scanning results.
